Candied Pecans Recipe

Before I share this recipe, I have to warn you: this is highly addictive and it’s very very hard not to sample the food while it’s baking, and equally hard not to keep tasting the pecans while you plate them for guests. The first time I made these, I had way too many and ended up with a stomach ache – no joke!

That said, making your own candied pecans for a get-together or office pot-luck will make you look like the star of the show and this is also a great idea for little gifts during the holiday season.

Candied Pecans

  • β…“ cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 pound pecan halves
  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.

  2. Mix sugar, cinnamon, and salt together in a bowl.

  3. Whisk egg white and water together in a separate bowl until frothy. Toss pecans in the egg white mixture. Mix sugar mixture into pecan mixture until pecans are evenly coated. Spread coated pecans onto a baking sheet.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, until pecans are evenly browned about 1 hour.

The first time I made these, I ended up with a tummy ache from snacking on them too much while stirring every 15 minutes (and then sampling the final result too much!) So, if you can eat them responsibly give them a shot.
