The Strategic Easter Bunny

easter-bunnyWith Easter coming up, there’s been much discussion online (namingly Facebook for me) about the Easter Bunny, lack thereof, or the culture of excess today where kids have Easter Baskets almost as loaded up as the Christmas tree.  I’m actually at a bit of a crossroads this Easter because my 9 year old has declared that the Easter bunny doesn’t exist (while I kick him under the kitchen table as he states this).  I have two younger kids (6 and 3) who still believe – and while they have that magical innocence of believing in bunnies, fairies, and Santa Claus I want to have fun with it.

I don’t go overboard with Easter at all, but I do have great memories of the Easter Bunny bringing me chocolate and one toy that I really wanted.  I have a distinct memory of being at my grandma’s house in Manitoba and having chocolate and a My Little Pony left on the front steps for me – he found me there!

This year, we are traveling to my parent’s for Easter so the kids will have their own memories of the Easter Bunny leaving items on their grandmother’s front step as well!  In my case, the Easter Bunny is quite strategic.  You see, since we’re traveling and will be in a crowded household with extended family, I’m including some items that I’d likely have purchased anyway, but in this case am having the Easter Bunny (or, truthfully, my friends at Hasbro!) bring them instead.

FurReal Friends PonyMy youngest is going to be completely enamoured with this FurReal Friends Butterscotch My Walkin’ Pony Pet (how very spring themed, don’t you think?) and while she’s busy with her new pony, the older two will be playing one of several Hasbro Games I’m including as well!  It’s a win-win for us, the Easter Bunny has made a delivery, and I’m thinking that my 9 year old will probably zip his lips when he realizes there’s a benefit to believing. 😉

My friends at Hasbro and Target have partnered up to help you this Easter!  Whether you want to employ a strategic Easter Bunny or just take these games along to an Easter gathering, they’ll be perfect for all ages this spring!
