Cranberry Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

I make chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, I make cranberry oatmeal cookies – but today felt like a day worthy of cranberry chocolate oatmeal cookies!  And there’s just no turning back.

Cranberry Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, softened (I used margarine)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips

  2. Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat the eggs in one at a time and then add in vanilla.
  5. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt then stir into the creamed mixture until just blended.
  6. Mix in the quick oats and finally the cranberries!
  7. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 12 minutes and allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 mins or so before transferring to a wire cooling rack.
Notes
You can cut down your cranberries to ½ cup and then add ½ cup chocolate chips for an even distribution. I just like a cranberry oatmeal cookie with a hint of chocolate, done this way in the recipe.

  • Cranberries and chocolate together = heaven! Thanks for the recipe, they turned out great. I used half butter half margarine.

  • I used 1\2 cup whole wheat flour and 3\4 cup white flour and mini chocolate chips so you get that chocolate with the sweet

  • yummy I need to go out and buy some dried cranberries as I will definitely be making these

  • So I made these cookies last year and they have become a family favourite. Very hard to have just one, lol. I did cut down on the sugar a bit and they still taste just as good
