Pepper Chicken

Pepper ChickenThis is one of my favorite meals to make!  Super easy, full of flavor, and leftovers taste great too.  You can make the sauce ahead of time earlier in the day and get dinner ready even faster.

Pepper Chicken

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2-3 chicken breasts, cut into bite sized pieces
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 3 tbsp soya sauce
  • ⅛ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, cut into small bite sized pieces (or 2 if you love them like I do)
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan and add diced chicken
  2. In a bowl, whisk water, ketchup soy sauce and pepper. Gradually whisk in flour. Set aside.
  3. Remove chicken from pan, stir in the liquid mixture and bring to a boil. Add chicken and onion.
  4. Reduce to a simmer, cook 20 minutes.
  5. Add peppers and mushrooms and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Serve over rice.

  • mmmmm goood love Tried and True recipes… this one looks wonderful and delish… I’ve gotten some recipes off the net that were not all that great… grandies and I will be trying this one this weekend love pepper stk… now gotta try pepper chix..I have a granddaughter standing over my shoulder right now.. so it’s going in her recipe book as pepper chix….lol

  • I made this for supper tonight. I’m not a big fan of mushrooms so I omitted them and I added cauliflower, broccoli, carrot and celery. I also used red and yellow pepper because that is what I had. Yummy! Thanks for the recipe. 🙂

  • Made this the other night, FABULOUS. My picky teenagers loved it and I was even able to have 2 leftover dinners for the girls to bring to the dance studio the next night. Love it and highly recommebd it!
