Over the past few years, head injuries in sport have become a serious concern. Not only are we considering the initial impact it can cause, but we are learning more about the lasting effects of head trauma. This has players and parents taking equipment more seriously. And manufacturers are responding.
Recently CCM Hockey launched its most innovative hockey helmet, the CCM Resistance. CCM partnered with neurotrauma experts at the University of Ottawa to study the stress and strain hockey hits can cause to the brain. They came up with something called the R.E.D. System (Rotational Energy Dampening System) and introduced something they call ‘impact pods’. The R.E.D. system is a series of liquid-filled bladders, the impact pods line the helmet’s shell. The combination offers rotational force management and linear protection.
While the cutting edge science behind the helmet is a little tough to put in layman’s terms, the simplicity of using it is not. The CCM Resistance offers a simple tool-free, single-step adjustment mechanism. This allows for a fast fit, and the ultimate in comfort.
Recently my husband busted out his skates in anticipation of helping out with my sons hockey team this season. And rules are rules; you can’t be on the ice without a helmet. When he tried on the Resistance he couldn’t believe come comfortable it felt. CCM has come a long way since 1985!

oh wow this is my grandsons first year playing hockey on a team and wow could he use this ..every time he falls or crashes into the side of the rink my heart drops.. my husband has a brain injury so i fear constantly for my grandson ..but i cant let him now or hed be afraid to play and i dont want that for him

A friend’s fourteen year old son recently suffered a concussion while playing in a hockey tournament. He has been cleared to resume play so he’s okay. I’d love to win this CCM Helmet because it protects the head and could prevent this type of injury.

Tis the hockey season – the CCM Helmet would be a true gift at this moment. Rinks are open for skating and this would alleviate the responsibility of finding the right helmet for my 10 year old. CCM has great quality equipment – who better to protect my son’s bean.
