Eureka! It’s a Knockout!

Eureka Airspeed One By Tara Richter…

I’ve often wondered when watching commercials for vacuum cleaners how “those people’s” carpets could possible get so dirty to turn a once light-colored carpet into a dull brown or gray. As it turns out, an active child and a dog can really do that to a carpet and I soon became one of “those people”.

One cool, wet morning after letting the dog back in from outside, I realized his feet were covered with caked-on mud & dirt. Before I could stop him, that lovely dog of mine ran over the cream-colored carpet and onto the kitchen linoleum leaving big muddy paw prints and thick sprays of mud and dirt all over the place. (It’s so hard to get mad at a puppy-dog face like his).

After letting the carpet dry a little, I stared down and discouragingly wondered what to do. Like a lightweight boxer, ready to take on the heavyweight champ, it was as though my new Eureka Air Speed One Vacuum, still in the box, begged for a chance to prove itself. ”Alight kid,” I thought as I pulled the vacuum out of the box, “you’re in.” It literally snapped together in a matter of seconds and I didn’t even LOOK at the instructions, mostly because it was THAT easy.

EUREKA is right! Seconds after powering up, the vacuum brushes literally grabbed hold of the carpet and started pulling forward. I moved in closer to the now dried muddy mess, and after only the first pass I was absolutely amazed the cleaning power of this little machine. It entirely removed the muddy prints and dirt which is no surprise with its 5-setting carpet height adjustments. Relieved that my carpet wasn’t completely ruined, I finished up the remainder of the floor, loving the vacuum lines as I easily moved along and around the furniture. Moving from carpet to my linoleum floor was a breeze with small turn of a dial.

I love that this vacuum is so light (around 9 lbs.) and has a 20 foot cord so that I can easily carry it up and down stairs without worry of it toppling down onto of me.

I find with a shedding dog, that I need to clean out the canister and filter a lot more often than I’d like to – and for that reason it may not be the best option for pet owners. It does, however, continue to do the job and I am impressed overall at its cleaning capability given its size.

If you’re looking for an economical way to clean all your flooring, this little powerhouse is a definite plus. Don’t let the small size of this Eureka vacuum fool you. For its ‘light-weight’ category – it packs a powerful punch in cleaning abilities.  Use the Where to Buy link on the site to find a retailer near you that carries Eureka products!  You can find it for sure at Walmart for – are you ready for it – just $59!
