When I saw that Hamilton Beach has Stand Mixers among their product lines, I put it at the top of my wish list! I was so happy when I found out it was coming my way! I had never used a stand mixer. My mom didn’t use one when I was growing up, so it wasn’t something I thought I needed as part of my kitchen. However, more and more of my friends were adding stand mixers (albeit quite expensive ones!) to their kitchen counter tops, so I wondered if I was missing out.
I couldn’t justify using a $400+ stand mixer when I’m a pretty novice baker (cooking is my thing, baking not so much!) However, for $149.99 I think it’s a much safer bet for holiday (or birthday!) gift giving than other brands.
We pulled out this beauty when I decided to make pumpkin spice bread one November afternoon. I added the ingredients to the bowl as usual but instead of using my handy-dandy hand blender, I instead simply turned the dial and BAM – mixing magic was happening right before my eyes!
I kid you not when I say that I threw my hands up in the air – Rocky Balboa style – in a triumphant victory stance. THIS was what I (and my mother) have been missing all these years! A stand mixer is so easy, and it makes you feel like you kind of know what you’re doing in the kitchen, which gives it bonus points too.
The helpful info on the side of the machine explains which attachment to use for the type of baking you’re doing and it also reminds you which speed(s) are best for that particular creation. I love that! The mixing head also “spins as it rotates inside the bowl” to ensure even mixing, which is a big deal among mixers and something that I’m completely new to – but it sounds like a good thing to me!
All in all, the Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer is an outstanding value at $149.99 and makes a great gift (or one from Santa for yourself!) Look for it at Target and Sears this holiday season!

This would make life so much easier! Hand held mixers and such just don’t always have the power/strength to mix up certain recipes and I just don’t have the elbow grease anymore to mix by hand.

This post made me laugh. I’ve been trying to win a stand mixer for a few years (one of the candy-coloured expensive ones), largely because I think they’re really pretty. Does that make me shallow? But I know I’ll use it once I get one. And the Hamilton Beach mixer is sufficiently shiny and pretty that I’ve now added it to my wish list.

I am new in Winnipeg and I don’t have kitchen stuffs like this in my kitchen. I am not a baker myself but nowadays I’m beginning to learn better yet enjoy baking because my son is allergic to nuts and most of the bread in the stores is contaminated with nuts.
