Recently, P&G Moms were tasked with a challenge. We were sent Food Network Canada’s Michael Smith’s new book: Back to Basics 101 Simple Classic Recipes with a Twist and asked to give any of the 100 recipes a try, and then of course tackle the resulting mess with a selection of P&G products.
Just one recipe? I could devour dozens upon dozens of the recipes in this book and have been flipping through it hungrily! The first day I opened it, I dog-eared a page and knew I had to try it.
On page 89 of Back to Basics, you’ll find a recipe for Meatball Steaks With Red Wine Mushroom Stew. Oh yes, I had to have it! Basically, the recipe is in two parts – the meatball steaks (hamburger steaks) and the delicious mouthwatering red wine mushroom stew/sauce that goes on top. I love cooking with wine (sometimes I use it in the food too, love that saying!)
The recipe was simple to follow, the Meatball Steaks were delicious and the Red Wine Mushroom Stew will be a definite keeper for other recipes as well!
The meal was delicious, but the clean-up was much bigger than I anticipated. Because the recipe was in two parts, making the meatball steaks and then the sauce, there were a ton of dishes and clean-up afterwards. It was all worth it though, and of course I had the help of my trusted P&G products at hand. I love love love Bounty Select a Size paper towels – they clean up big (saucy!) messes and you don’t have to use a giant paper towel either. Dawn gets the job done for my plastics that go in the sink, and Cascade was ready to tackle the saute pan and dishes in the dishwasher!

Oh My!!! Why wouldn’t I want this prize pack?
