Nearly five years since my son was born, my second baby is due very soon. As I prepare for his or her arrival, babyhood is slowly coming back to me. You forget a lot! While much of the baby gear has remained the same…there seems to be a new craze in one very simple item; the baby blanket!
With my son I was all about flannel, the same type of blankets my mom had for me in 1980. But I always found flannel a little stiff, and hated how it pilled after just one wash. My son was also a very warm baby, and those flannel receiving blankets just don’t seem to “breath” enough.

i’d like to win, because i agree that size matters. many of the blankets I had for my other 2 were simply to small to swaddle or do much at all. the blankets I used were ones hand sewn by my aunt. simply because it were for swaddling and as they got older simply covering them and stroller blankets.

I love the bigger sized swaddling blankets. I have some muslin ones already but would love to have more! I used mine a lot for swaddling but also used them a lot for draping over my stroller during the summer to keep the sun off but allowing the breeze to blow through.
