Well, the best chili recipe according to my household anyway. And it has beer in it. What could be better than chili and beer? This recipe makes a lot so you’ll have leftovers for freezing!
Best Chili Recipe
Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:
Serves: 8
Ingredients
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 can kidney beans
- 1 (19oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (398ml) can tomato sauce
- 1 can mushrooms
- 1 can beer
- ½ green pepper, seeded and chopped
- ½ red onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pkg chili seasoning (Clubhouse or other)
Instructions
- Heat a large stock pot over medium-high heat. Crumble the ground beef into the hot pan, and cook until evenly browned. Drain off excess grease.
- Add in the remaining ingredients (how easy is this, right?) Stir to blend, then cover and simmer over low heat for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- The longer the chili simmers, the better it will taste. Remove from heat and serve when ready! Chili is also a great slow-cooker recipe for this reason.
Notes
One package of seasoning will give your chili a mild taste, which works for my kids. If you like a spicy chili, add two packages.
What we do, is add Frank's Red Hot at the table for those of us (mom and dad!) who like a little more kick!
Sounds tasty! I am lazy and just use the Clubhouse Slowcooker Chili seasoning and then throw mine in the slowcooker and our family loves it 🙂
I was looking for something to make today. I will look like the chick with a problem buying 1 beer from the Beer Store today!
nahhhh those chicks buy the whole case 😉
lol! That could be a reason to pick up a whole case.
LOL Christy!! You could probably buy the non-alcoholic beer at the grocery store too though I’m sure they’re sold in singles either. I can always find reasons to use beer in cooking – my Chicken Taco Soup recipe uses beer too, by the way. It’s on my Recipes page. 😉
Ladies, I have my ingredients pulled out of the cupboard. A nice pub/cafe next to the Beer Store. This might work out to be an all nighter. Non-alcoholic beer is not the same when it comes to ingredients. My saving grace is that I am going to walk it and it is a bit of a hike. So, I will not come back with more than a 6 pack! Which might put me in a really good mood. 1 WHOLE can? What about a dollop? I better hope it is not rationing time!
looks yummy btw …will try on monday…..having a NL dinner tomorrow 😉
Sounds yummy! I like to make chili in my crockpot!
oooh beer-that sounds good. Do you find dark or light adds better flavour?
I’d assume a dark ale would be more flavorful but in all honesty I just grab what’s handy! It’s a great way to use some of the leftover stuff someone leaves after a BBQ…the beer that makes you say, “WHO drinks this stuff??”
Oh yummy… chili…. my favorite… 🙂
This chill would be perfect on a cold winter’s day yummy!
Looking forward to making this one! I’ve never tried a chili with beer in it before.

Very much a perfect winter comfort food recipe! 🙂 Ive never tried chili with beer in it, but I like the idea 🙂
My husband makes a similar slow cooker chili (He calls it his World Famous Chili). He doesn’t use beer, though. I’ll have to get him to take a look at your recipe and see if he wants to try it. Looks good!
I love slow-cooked chili! And of course your recipe has beer! 😉
Well I know this chili is going to be the bomb, I read through the recipe and this is exactly the way I make mine ingredients and all and I love this chili, I make it quite a bit through the winter months and leftovers make an excellent taco dip,and chili fries
