Dempster’s Sandwich It!

Dempster’s approached me with some tips on how to Sandwich It – take your every day leftovers and….you guessed it, Sandwich It!  We’re really bad with leftovers in our house – I have a hard time with the taste of reheated meat (I’m weird, I know) but there are a few items that make unbelievable leftovers and two of them happen to make amazing sandwiches.  Turkey sandwiches and roast beef sandwiches are two of my favorites!  The funny thing is, they’re always better when someone else makes them (do you find that too?)

I didn’t think there was reason to post a ‘recipe’ for how to make a turkey or roast beef sandwich but I’ll tell you three of my tips for both:

1) Use mayonnaise, and lots of it.  Leftover turkey and roast beef both can be dry but mayonnaise will help, and it also adds to the flavor!
2) Pepper! And don’t be stingy either – pepper on both sandwiches mixed in with that mayo is divine!
3) It’s all about the bread. We’re a white bread family (and make no apologies for it!) but the bread has to be fresh, soft, and full of flavor like Dempster’s Farmhouse Sandwich Bread. It can make all the difference in an ok sandwich and an amazing Ross-Gellar-would-fight-for-this-sandwich (ignore if you’re not a Friends fan!)

Dempster’s shares some great ideas for leftovers on their website including recipes for a Chicken Fiesta Sandwich, Meatball Marinara Sandwich and a Fish-wich Sandwich using leftover fishsticks.

What about you?  Do you have a favorite leftover sandwich?  Share your fave and you could win!
