We don’t often get out to the movie theater in our city with the kids – lacking a decent sized screen and good sound system, it’s not a very frugal way to spend an afternoon. Still, when a movie comes along that the kids are really eager to see, we’ll go once in awhile instead of waiting to go to a huge theater an hour away. I’m glad that we made the venture this spring to see The Lorax – maybe it was appropriate to see it in a smaller theater, smaller screen. It’s perspective, and this movie is full of that!
I somehow missed the original feature of The Lorax when I was a kid, and the book it’s based on by Dr.Seuss too, because this story was entirely new to me as an adult.
From the press release:
The imaginative world of Dr. Seuss comes to life like never before in this visually spectacular adventure from the creators of Despicable Me! Twelve-year-old Ted will do anything to find a real live Truffula Tree in order to impress the girl of his dreams. As he embarks on his journey, Ted discovers the incredible story of the Lorax, a grumpy but charming creature who speaks for the trees. Featuring the voice talents of Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Rob Riggle, Jenny Slate and Betty White, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is filled with hilarious fun for everyone!
I was really happy I took my 8 year old and 4 year old to see this movie – the message was great and something that even my 4 year old could understand which was wonderful. It gave us all some food for thought and later I purchased The Lorax book so my kids could read the story over and over – and now we have The Lorax on DVD to watch over and over too!
The Lorax was just released this week (August 7th) on Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital Copy.
I loved this show in the theatre! Picked it up as soon as I could on the release date!
