October is Vegetarian Awareness Month, and what better way to celebrate than by stopping into LUSH to pick up some of your favorite kind-to-critters cosmetics? LUSH believes their products should be effective, fun and cruelty-free. LUSH products are 100% vegetarian and 81% vegan and they don’t stop there. Many of their employees are vegetarian or vegan and passionately execute ethical campaigns in their shops to bring animal testing and other acts of animal cruelty to an end. Swing by LUSH and indulge in some of these best-selling animal-friendly finds:
Rehab Shampoo ($13.95 3.3 oz./ $24.95 8.4 oz/ $39.95 16.9 oz)
This vegan, vitamin and enzyme rich wonder of a shampoo is made with LUSH’s unique and wonderfully potent blend of fresh organic juices like pineapple and kiwi to digest dirt, while a careful balance of jojoba, olive and almond oils restore hair’s strength and flexibility. (Vegan)
Veganese Conditioner ($9.95 3.3 oz / $19.95 8.4 oz / $29.95 16.9 oz)
Vegans rejoice! This light conditioner has a softening agar seaweed gel base (instead of sheep’s wool derived Lanolin) and fresh organic lemon juice for shine, shine and more shine. (Vegan)
Angels On Bare Skin Facial Cleanser (Sold by Weight, $12.95 for ¼lb)
This best-selling, vegan, clay-based deep exfoliating cleanser with balancing properties leaves skin looking gorgeous and feeling soft and moisturized. Simple, beautiful, natural ingredients like rose, lavender, ground almonds and glycerine, are mixed together to create a medieval skin-balancing recipe. (Vegan)
Ocean Salt Facial and Body Scrub ($19.95 for 4.2 oz/$34.95 for 8.8 oz)
This detoxifying cream-based scrub is made with both coarse and fine sea salts to help invigorate and exfoliate the skin. It also contains fresh lime crushed in vodka to wash away excess oils, and fresh grapefruit infusion, which has a stimulating, tonic action on the skin.
I’m not vegan and don’t seek out vegan products but when I read about these ones from LUSH, I really wanted to try them! Rehab Shampoo is really popular at LUSH and now I know why – it smells delicious and is the treatment your hair needs, especially if it’s like mine and has seen more bleach and color than most should in a year (heh.) Finishing up with the Veganese conditioner gives your hair a squeaky clean (literally) feel.
Of the two cleansers, I was most eager to try the Ocean Salt Facial and Body Scrub after I read about it having fresh lime crushed in vodka in it – it sounded like one of my favorite drinks! Talk about invigorating, this left my skin tingly (but not drunk, hee!)
I’m a recent lush-buyer, and I’m pretty happy about it so far. I have very oily, acne-prone skin, and I just bought the Fresh Farmacy cleanser, Grease Lightning spot treatment, and tea tree oil toner. I’m really hoping the all-natural routine pays off!
