This house is the first we’ve lived in that has a hardwood floor in the living room. While it’s great for visual appeal it’s not so great for an infant. Though we have an area rug, it wasn’t very thick, and so I’d fold a baby blanket or two under Everleigh before laying her down.
I started thinking of creative ways we could make the area more comfortable for her and thought of those foam interlocking tiles in department stores. The problem is that they happen to be rather ugly. Bold primary colors in large squares don’t jive a modern living space.
Fortunately, Skip Hop has a line of interlocking foam tiles called Playspot – perfect for creating a play area for babies in a modern decor. We only used 12 tiles total for the play spot area we created in our living room and it’s a perfect area for Everleigh to play. She just turned 5 months this week and is on the move – she doesn’t sit all that well on her own yet (only long enough to snap an adorable pic like this!) but can scoot on her belly. This makes the play spot a good starter point now! For babies that are not as mobile, this would be a perfect area for playtime!

In our basement I have my craft kitchen and dewing room. It’s great for me, but just had s thin laminate flooring over concrete. I would love to be able to bring my daughter down there to play while I craft and sew, but right now I don’t think I could. These are amazing! I actually have been searching for something like this recently… All I seemed to find was the traditional alphabet patterned ones. Great baby gift my sister in-law is expecting her first baby and aready has been given most everything she will need.
Oh I’m so excited that I came across this….I have been looking for foam tiles that are safe for a baby and BPA and PVC FREE!! I would use them in our living room area to make a great crawling area for our little angel. The foam tiles will provide some cushion for her and allow us to easily teach our dogs to stay off the tiled area. Thanks so much for the opportunity!!
