Mother Tucker Compression Tank by Belly Bandit

During my pregnancy with this baby, nearly 7 years after my first pregnancy, I came across several topics of discussion that were not on my radar at all back in 2004.  Many moms on the pregnancy board I read were discussion compression bands and tanks for after delivery – it’s a really popular item and “plan of attack” so to speak for getting your pre-baby body back.

The Belly Bandit, for example, is a compression band that has received the attention of celebs like Kourtney Kardashian, and she even has a Limited Edition Kourtney Kardashian Belly Bandit on the site now.

I wasn’t sure if I could wear a compression band, since I have to be honest and say that I really dislike anything tight on my stomach area.  Tight jeans, a tight waist, all of it bugs me to no end so the idea of actually purposely wearing something compressing against my stomach wasn’t appealing.

The idea of having a flatter looking stomach after deliver, however, was very appealing.

The Mother Tucker (which, by the way, is probably among one of my top savvy product names out there) is a compression tank top available in 3 different styles (Nursing Tank, Scoop Neck and V-Neck).

The compression tank is made with 3 zones of varying compression – an upper section for support, a center section (the one with the most compression) for flattening the tummy area, and a bottom anti-roll section with muffinology (yes really) technology to help smooth out muffin tops!

While Belly Bands follow the centuries old practice of belly binding (for years Japanese women have used their “Sarashi” to speed up weight loss and tone the abdominal muscles and skin after childbirth), a Compression Tank is a less-intense way, in my opinion, to look at this idea.

More information on the History of Binding can be found on the Belly Bandit website.

I received my own Compression Scoop Neck Tank from Belly Bandit when I was still pregnant, and had it ready to go post-partum.  Of course, I didn’t know I’d have a c-section so I waited two weeks before wearing the tank but at the time I still had a bloated post-c-section belly.

This photo was taken at exactly 2 weeks after my c-section.  I have worn the Mother Tucker Compression Tank a few times over the past few weeks, as a layering piece under another shirt.  It definitely improves my figure, no doubt about it.

I still don’t like the feeling of being squeezed into something, so I don’t wear the tank every day like I thought I would but it’s not the fault of the shirt’s design.  After all, if you want to squeeze things in to look  great, you gotta have some compression!  I just don’t like the feeling so I guess I am destined to have my jiggly bits showing on the days I don’t wear the tank!

The Mother Tucker can be purchased directly from the Belly Bandit website for $69.95, or you can look for it at select retailers here.

  • I am with you on the tightness. I have one similar to this and I LOVE how it made my stomach look. I only wore it when I went out though. Maybe after I am no longer pregnant I will want it again. lol

  • My daughter was telling me about these and I thought OMG i wish I had had these with my kiddos. I busted out laughing at the name though! 🙂

    • LOVE the name, brilliant marketing on their part (it’s unforgettable!)
