Oh how mommies love the Bumbo! It’s one of those baby products that, when sitting among a group of new moms or soon-to-be-moms, someone inevitably asks, “So, do you have a Bumbo yet?” because it seems like almost everyone has one. Why? Because they’re fantastic, that’s why!
The Bumbo Baby Seat is made from one single piece of low-density, non-latex, lightweight foam and is molded in such a way that babies are able to comfortably sit in the seat all by themselves, even before they are able to sit up on their own. Moms, you know that stage – somewhere around 4-5 months your little babe is eager to see the world from a new vantage point and happy to sit, with your help, and play with toys. As soon as it’s time for mom to have her hands free to make a meal, answer the phone, or if we’re really lucky use the washroom, baby erupts in tears when he’s layed back down.
The Bumbo Baby Seat gives parents a free hand while allowing baby to sit independently and happily in a safe place (parents should always be near by and the Bumbo should never be used on a high surface). The Bumbo wasn’t around when my first was born but we had a lilac Bumbo for Nevaeh. I ended up selling it to a friend after Nevaeh was done with it – since it wasn’t a very gender neutral color and we weren’t sure if we were having more kids. Now, with baby #3 on the way I regretted not having a Bumbo among my baby items (I’m a prepared mama!) but was thrilled when Keen Distribution offered to send me a new one to review.
I picked aqua, a neutral color that will work great for both a boy and a girl and I’ve already put it to use even before baby’s arrival! It seems like there’s always someone around us having a baby and it’s great to have this handy seat around for helping free a mom’s arms when she’s visiting, like I did the other night at a get-together at our house. Her little guy was smiling away in the chair. I love that this chair easily wipes clean and is light and easy to transport around the house (or to a friend’s house) as needed. A Bumbo, in my opinion, is one of those essential items a new mom needs and it therefore makes a great baby shower gift!
