I’m really excited to go “home” this holiday season (no matter how many years you are away, your hometown is always home). This year we’re going to have a full house, complete with kids ages 3 up to 20 (ur, sorry young adults). After we’ve watched a few movies and played with the kids, it’s time to pull out some board games! This year, I received two games for the holidays that I’m bringing with me.
Rubik’s Slide is a literal twist on the old Rubik’s Cube we’re become familiar with in the past 30 years. In this game, the player uses a light pattern on the screen. A goal pattern is shown, and then it’s up to you to figure out how to manipulate the squares to create the same. The cool thing about this game is that there’s multiple levels so all ages can give it a shot. I think this will be a great game while visiting with family, chatting and sharing stories. I also think it may come in handy on our long drive home – sometimes having a puzzle to do can help drown out the sound of the kid’s fighting in the backseat, right?
The second game I’m bringing home with me is Tribond, in an all packaging and with all new clues added too! This game was big in the 90’s and is back in this brand new edition. Basically, you have a card with three items on it and it’s up to you to use your investigative skills to determine what all three items have in common. What about the photo above, can you figure it out? What about this one: Orchestra, Brad, Olive…hmmmm?!
I think we’ll really enjoy playing this one over the holidays because again, its a game that a large age-range can play together.
