I have an iPod Touch but gave it to my husband (who ironically gifted it to me in the first place) when I got my BlackBerry. One thing I miss about the iPod is all the great Apps you can get for it! On a recent car trip, Elijah’s uncle had his iPhone with him and amused him with all the great iPhone Apps he had! I really need to start downloading more Apps from iTunes after seeing what Uncle Dan had!
Recently, we were given the opportunity to review 3 stories from the My Living Stories iTunes App for iPhone and iPod Touch – great timing! As soon as we were back from our trip I downloaded 3 stories and sat down with the kids to check them out. I picked The Princess and the Pea for myself, as it was always one of my favorites and I knew Nevaeh would love anything to do with a princess. We also picked Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Other titles available include The Tortoise and the Hare and Kind Midas.
I appreciated the classic illustrations on this App – nothing flashy or loud and obnoxious like some Apps can be. The stories are told in a simple to follow format, and children have the option of having the story read by the narrator or reading the story out loud to themselves. The My Living Stories iTunes App is perfect for keeping the kids entertained when I need them to be calm and quiet but it’s also great for at home too. I thought Nevaeh would like The Princess and the Pea the most, like me, but no – she likes Goldilocks and the Three Bears the best. It would be nice to see My Living Stories add more classic children’s stories to their collection!
