Winning Colours Stain Remover

Oh the cleaning that comes with a new house! You hope the previous owners clean up well before they leave but many times ideas of clean differ between people. In our case, the previous owner hired a house cleaner to come before we moved in and basically a surface clean was the result (glad I wasn’t the one paying him!) So, while we moved in and adjusted to life in our new house, cleaning was a continual task. I was fortunate to have several bottles of Winning Colours Stain Remover to use, and barely used half a bottle for all the cleaning I did. When Winning Brands sent me the product to try out, I emailed them back a little confused. You see, I had read on the website how Winning Brands products were perfect for things like removing stains and paint, washing floors, used as a laundry booster, and cleaning tubs and showers. I thought Winning Brands would be sending me a selection of products for these tasks but no, I had one – Winning Colours Stain Remover. The company informed me that one product was all I would need for all those cleaning tasks – it has, as they say, 1000+ uses.

Based in Barrie, Ontario, this Canadian company is focused on providing its customers (both residential and industrial) with effective cleaning products that are also eco-friendly. The company’s offices in Barrie look out on Lake Simcoe, so it’s a constant reminder on how our products can impact the environment (don’t you wish all cleaning companies had an office on a shore line or a beautiful view of nature to keep that in the forefront?)

Winning Colours is rapidly biodegradable (about 5 days) and whenever possible the products from Winning Brands are made with organically derived raw materials. It’s also hypoallergenic (anyone can have a reaction to a product, however) and none of their products has ever been tested on animals. What I really appreciate about this company is that they themselves say they are constantly learning and evolving and doing their best to keep the environment clean.

I used Winning Colours on two places in my kitchen with great results. The first was on my linoleum floor which had 3 curious red stains near the pantry door. I steam mopped the floor which did not remove the stains, then scrubbed with a rag and dish soap with no luck. We’re not entirely sure what it was – but it was yucky looking. I put three drops on the floor, one on each spot, and left it for about 10 minutes. I still had to scrub the spots but the product worked to remove them when the other two attempts did not.

The second place I used Winning Colours Stain Remover was above my cabinets. I climbed up to remove the wallpaper border and discovered years of dust and grime. I thought a simple cloth with soap and water would work but created more of a mess this way. The dust was mixed with grease (I guess?) from cooking in the kitchen and I’m not sure what else, so my attempt just made a mess. I then tried the Winning Colours Stain Remover. The result was like using soap on a child’s dirty hands, it simply washed off with ease. I did a few little experiments – I squeezed the solution in a design through the grime, waited a few minutes and then checked. The product completely worked through the dirt, dust, grease and grime and left a white clean path. For general household cleaning, you can dilute one part Winning Colours Stain Remover to 4 parts water in a trigger spray bottle, or you can apply the product directly like I did (for carpet stains, apply directly).

I think Winning Colours is great for general household cleaning and so does Extreme Home Makeover. The show actually supplies the new homeowners with a selection of Winning Brands products to help keep their house as beautiful as it is on the unveiling day. I will keep a bottle of Winning Colours Stain Remover on hand for this purpose, but if you are thinking of a painting project this spring, I’d suggest having a bottle on hand to quickly take care of any ‘oops’ moments along the way.
