Natura World

Some parenting authors (I hesitate to call them experts, what makes one author more of an expert on parenting than you or I?) suggest not having any major transitions happening in a child’s life at the same time as a move. Potty training, for example, has taken a back burner in our household because I didn’t want to stress my daughter out with that. I did, however, debate whether I wanted to set up the crib in our new house or simply explain to my 2 year old that the crib didn’t come to our new house and a big girl bed would be used instead. In the end I decided that was the route to go, and she handled it really well!

Thankfully, I had my friends at Natura to help me out and I’m going to give them some credit here because my nights have been blissful since my darlin’ has been in her own bed. Natura recently launched a second website focusing on their baby and children’s products called Natura Baby & Kidz. The site includes Natura products like mattresses, pillows and bedding including mattress toppers and mattress pads. My 2 year old is the last of our family to be able to experience the quality of sleep that Natura products provides. We are now all Natura product fans and it comes up in conversation all the time.Natura provided us with the Moonbeam Mattress (twin) for my toddler’s new big-girl bed. I want, of course, to make sure she is as comfortable as possible but also, like any parent, I want to make sure she is sleeping in a safe environment as well. Made with a Latex/Foam core (Talalay Latex atop a polyfoam base made with soy foam), the Moonbeam Mattress also features Natura Wool just beneath the quilted cover. Wool helps regulate body temperature and wicks away moisture which helps repel allergens like dust mites and bacteria (which would thrive in a moist environment…does your child sweat at night? Yikes!)

This mattress could tout all green and safe features but if it’s not comfortable it’s not going to work for families no matter how green (or tired!) they are. The Moonbeam Mattress from Natura doesn’t disappoint! When we first received it, the kid’s room wasn’t ready yet so we stored it against the wall in our bedroom. My husband asked me the next day, “Did you feel that mattress?” I said no and he said I had better check it out. Wow. The top layer of the mattress feels like a plush velvety blanket – truly remarkable for a mattress! The overall look and design of the mattress is quite appealing on it’s own.

Once her bed was built and the Natura Moonbeam Mattress put on it, Neaveh couldn’t keep the big grin off her face. I thought to myself, “this is a good sign,” and hoped for the best. The first night in her big girl bed, she slept through the night. This from a toddler who would wake up almost every single night in her crib to come snuggle with me and who, for the past few weeks as we transitioned in our move including a hotel stay and then sharing a room with us still woke up at least once through the night. We were thrilled but figured it was beginner’s luck. So far, the luck continues and I have a feeling it’s more to do with a quality mattress (and secure sleeping environment) that is making this transition, excuse the pun, a dream!

Natura also sent us a NaturaProtect Essential Mattress Protector (since we will have a little potty trianer on our hands…someday) and Organic Dream Mate Pillow to help her ensure sweet dreams. After feeling the luxuriously soft top of the Natura Moonbeam Mattress, I’m so happy to have something to protect it. A note about the Natura Moonbeam Mattress – it is meant to go ontop of a platform (solid piece of wood) or a slat foundation (1.5″ – 2.0″ apart), so it can not go on a regular boxspring (doing so would void the warranty). The reason for this is that a Latex mattress is much heavier than a coil/spring mattress and needs more support!

Are you transitioning your toddler to a bed soon? Do you have a child with allergies or who simply doesn’t sleep well? A Natura Moonbeam Mattress may just be the beginning of beautiful sleep like it was in our household! 1 of my fabulous readers is going to WIN a Natura Moonbeam Mattress (ARV $504.00)!
