Are all candles the same? If you don’t regularly burn them, you may think they are…after all, they all look pretty and they all smell like various favorite scents. Those of us who do burn candles regularly know there is a huge difference in the quality of candles out there and know which brands are the better ones. As with anything, in the case of candles you usually get what you pay for. However, it’s very easy to tag your product with a buzz word like “soy” or “organic” and charge more because of it.
I have found a jewel of a company based in Miramichi, NB, Canada called Simply Soy Candles. The creator of Simply Soy Candles, Tina, has been making candles since 2005 and has recently started making bath and body products as well. This is really a case where you can’t judge a product by the website – there’s no flashy advertising here, no expensive web-design. Simply Soy Candles focuses on their product more than the advertising (Tina regularly sells her candles at the local farmer’s market). I’d really like to help get the word out about Simply Soy Candles because I have been so impressed with the quality of these candles!
Poured into 6oz hexagon jars, the candles don’t have any fancy packaging and can easily be incorporated into any room decor. I love being able to put a lid back on the candle when it’s cooled, or leaving the lid off and having the candle serve as an air freshener when not lit.
Speaking of the scent, this is undoubtedly what has impressed me the most about Simply Soy Candles. These candles are the strongest-scented candles I currently own! When I light these candles, I can smell them in the room within minutes and their scent covers a huge area – I can light them in a lower level room and smell them upstairs in my kitchen AND upstairs in the bedrooms. In other words, one candle can scent my entire house which has not happened with any other candle. Obviously, the scent is strongest in the room the candle is burning.
If you are a fan of candles but have been disappointed in the past with a barely-there scent when burning, Simply Soy Candles are worth a look!
There’s a great variety of scents available, and if you’re having trouble deciding you can even get a layered triple scented jar! I tried a Triple Scented jar ($6.00!!) with the following scents: Bermuda Triangle, Paradise Reef, and Sex On The Beach.
You’ll note that this one isn’t on the site, but if you’re interested Tina can certainly add one to your order. This candle is a sweet and delicious blend of summer scents.
Another scent I tried was Lick Me All Over. With a name like that I had to try it! It is one of the most popular sellers and reminds me of the Dewberry scent from The Body Shop (at least I think so, it took me forever to try and figure out what it reminded me of). Pink Sugar is one of my new favorite scents and this one doesn’t disappoint – it’s stronger than any of the Pink Sugar scents I’ve tried in other candles. Another scent that intrigued me because of the name was Twigs & Berries, lol….and the scent doesn’t disappoint. The website lists a great description of all the scents to give you a better idea of how they smell.
