Giveaways and Reviews

Hiho Batik (closed)

I had to chuckle how naive I was about the art of Batik. I thought Hiho Batik was simply a clever name for a company and didn’t realize, until reading more about the company, that Batik is actually is a wax-resist dying technique used on textile. Julia Silver Gordon, the creator of Hiho Batik, is a leading Batik specialist in the US and the label is gaining notoriety. Look who happens to wear Hiho Batik! While looking through the collection, it’s hard not to feel nostalgia for your favorite t-shirts as a child. All the Hiho Batik designs highlight fun and adventurous designs and since piece is individually waxed and dyed, each is an original piece of art.

We received a boy’s “Malibu” shirt to review and I love the look of it. I love that it’s 100% handmade and that each shirt is individually different than the next. Care must be taken the first time you wash it – wash it separately because of the dyes and always wash it in cold water. The shirt is 100% cotton and very lightweight and soft (like your favorite vintage tee).

Hiho Batik has some Mother’s Day specials on the site right now that are worth a look as well.

I have a Hiho Batik Skull shirt in size 4T to give away to one lucky reader! To enter, just go to Hiho Batik and tell me what your favorite design is.
