While browsing through the Belly Bandit site, I noted how much press this product is getting lately, and how many celebrities are using it. I know us moms have a love/hate relationship with celebrities, especially the ones who seem to look like their old self within weeks of delivering a baby. I always roll my eyes and declare that, “Of course I’d lose weight if I had someone cooking all my meals for me, and had a nanny so I could work out for hours every day!” There’s my theory! I’ll give some celebrities some credit and say that it seems like some are on the same path as many new moms, trying to shed those extra pounds, trying to get the hang of being a new mommy and keeping it altogether!
Jessica Alba, Minnie Driver, Poppy Montgomery and Diane Farr are listed among the celebrities who have used the Belly Bandit. What is it? In basic terms it’s a belly binder! From the site:
The Belly Bandit™ wrap is an abdominal compression binder designed to help you get your body back to its former fabulousness post childbirth.
Not only does the Belly Bandit™ help reduce uncomfortable uterine swelling, it aids in decreasing bloating caused by water retention, and gives additional support for Mommy’s weary legs & back. For you breastfeeding moms, there’s a bonus… the Belly Bandit™ will help you with your posture during feedings, and may help to reduce the all too common back & shoulder pain associated with breastfeeding.
Ultimately, the Belly Bandit™ wrap will aid in getting you back to your pre-pregnancy hotness faster than ever!
I thought that was pretty interesting, and won’t lie – if I were expecting right now I’d probably be checking this item out! When it comes to getting back your pre-preggy body, I say it can’t hurt to try. The website is full of information to help make your decision, including information on the history of belly binding and also about other culture’s use of similar techniques.
The cool thing (and probably comforting thing, as I know we get all sorts of ideas in our head when we hear the term ‘belly binding’) is that the item doesn’t look that scary. It comes in basic colors, a couture line, and bamboo as well.
The site explains that to choose your size, if you are pregnant you should measure your waist around the 8th month of pregnancy, as this is what your size will be post-delivery to start (ugh, isn’t that depressing!) If you purchase the Belly Band after you give birth, you would just choose your current size.
For more information, check out the Belly Bandit site, and definitely read the FAQ area for lots of useful info!
The women behind Belly Bandit would like to offer 1 Belly Bandit™ Original to one lucky reader in the size and color of their choice, of course. To enter, just go to Belly Bandit and take a look around. Tell me one thing you learned about the product while on the site.
