Guidecraft is 46 years old! Started in 1964 in President Jason L. Fein’s father’s basement (with 10 items to start), the company has evolved over the years to become a well-known brand among parents and teachers and now can boast over 850 products in their line. The company stays true to their tradition of making beautifully crafted wood products, allowing children’s imagination to take flight, and also of course has a great line of children’s furnishings as well.
When we were given the opportunity to review the Guidecraft Work Bench, I was interested to see how the kids would use it. I never had a work bench for Elijah (now 6), and when Nevaeh was a baby I wasn’t focused on items like this for her (of course I was thinking all things girly!) I wondered if Elijah at 6 would scoff at it, being too small for him, and if Nevaeh (the girly girl that I created) would take an interest in it.
At 28″ high and 20″w, this Work Bench doesn’t take up as much room as I expected, because it can be placed against a wall in a bedroom or other play area. The Guidecraft Work Bench comes complete with tools like a wrench, screwdriver, hammer, c-clamp, T-square and vise. The work bench counter area has room for all the work busy bodies have to do in a day.
Nevaeh loves this work bench! Once she figured out how to use the hammer, screw driver and other tools, she got to work building! Her brother gave her some tips and ideas and she insists on doing it all by herself now. Today as I was doing laundry she informed me that she was busy building a bird house. As I watched her while folding clothes I couldn’t help but chuckle at this little girl making, of all things, a bird house, with her wooden work bench.
My 3 year old princess just proved to me that the Guidecraft Wooden Work Bench is not just for little boys. Toddlers and preschoolers love building like grown-ups and love anything that gives them the opportunity to engage in imaginary play. You can purchase the Guidecraft Wooden Work Bench directly on the website for $90.00 US. Customers can also check out the Store Locator on the website to find a store near them that sells Guidecraft products.
