It’s Better In The Bahamas

We’ve already seen the first few snowflakes in the air here in Saskatchewan, and although it most certainly can be worse (I just read that in 2003 on this date, Regina already had a 10cm snowfall!) it certainly could be better. A lot better.

Instead of stepping outside to scrape the frost off my windshield, I could be stepping onto a sandy beach and enjoying a day of salt water and sun. It’s about this time in the fall that many Canadians start daydreaming about a winter vacation destination, so I know I’m definitely not alone.

Take, for example, The Bahamas. There’s something about the name alone that sounds regal, inviting, and impressive don’t you think? The capital of The Bahamas, Nassau, with Paradise Island to the north, would be my ideal winter island vacation destination.

Because of the close proximity, many airports in Canada offer non-stop flights to The Bahamas making it even more inviting. Once in Nassau, travellers can make many same-day connections to other islands in he Bahamas. Once we have travel figured out, the rest is just easy.

We would definitely plan to play with dolphins on an excursion to Atlantis and also teach the kids how to snorkel (having only done it once myself, I’m sure I could use a refresher too!) I’d book a boating excursion to Blackbeard’s Cay.

Or, perhaps my husband and I could visit on our own for our 15^th wedding anniversary! Nassau and Paradise Island offer properties specifically for romantic getaways, whether it’s a honeymoon, baby moon, anniversary or just because. Couples can even plan a vow renewal ceremony in a beautiful church or on a white sand beach.
