When I was contacted by the people behind DonateNaturally.com on Twitter, to inquire on whether I’d like to review the website and overall idea of Donate Naturally, I was intregued but looking for the catch.
The company refers to themselves as “the everyday fundraising group”, making it possible for Canadians to shop for groceries and household items online while donating 15% of their total purchase price to a charity of their choice.
Not only that, the items at Donate Naturally are all natural or organic AND shipping is free in Canada for a limited time (you can also opt for delivery within the GTA).
So where’s the catch? If the company is donating 15% of the purchase total to charity, surely they must jack up the prices to compensate for that, right? That was my assumption going in when I was offered a gift certificate to shop. As it turns out, the items I bought were all within the normal price range I’d expect for natural/organic items with the extra perk being that the majority of items I purchased were not available to me locally as well – so I was able to find reasonably priced natural and organic items and have them shipped to my door at no extra cost. AND…AND…I felt awesome knowing that 15% of my purchase went to my charity of choice.
Some of my favorite products I received from Donate Naturally included Treehouse Bath and Body products – the kids loved seeing their favorite characters on their shampoo and soap and I haven’t seen these products in stores locally.
I also ordered some Healthy Times Arrowroot Cookies simply because they taste different than the usual ones my toddler eats – I’ve seen these at our local natural foods store for the same price too but this way it comes right to my door and a portion of my purchase goes to charity.
There’s a good sized selection of sauces, marinades, dressings and jams at Donate Naturally as well. I picked up two Mr. Spice Organic Sauces – how can you not buy a BBQ sauce that’s called Tangy Bang??
One of my Canadian readers is going to win a $25 GC to shop at DonateNaturally.com! Remember, shipping is free and 15% goes to your favorite charity too!
