My sister came to visit recently, and my kids were so excited to spend some quality time with their favorite aunt!
She loves cooking and brought out one of her favorite recipes (Caramel Rolls, also known as Monkey Bread) and the kids were so excited to have special one-on-one time with her in the kitchen creating a surprise for mom (yay me, it was delicious!)
The kids prepared breakfast for the following morning, the night before, right before bedtime (hence the snuggie on my son and pj’s on my daughter!) while I milled around quietly and of course snapped a photo. I loved that they had their own special time together, and I know they will remember it as the years go by because cooking with auntie is something they always look forward to (my son has been cooking with her since he was a little tot!)
Cooking with kids definitely takes patience and you have to look away from the mess, but the rewards and memories are worth it! They’re so proud of themselves and if you’re lucky, the prepared food might even be edible. 😉

My kids LOVE to help out in the kitchen. What a great time with their Aunt!
