Rock-a-Stack: A Classic!

By Brittany Caffet

Christmas is all about nostalgia. Everything tied to the season comes with a memory. Setting up the tree has me fondly recalling the way Mom would spend what seemed like hours “fluffing” the tree, ensuring that every single branch was perfectly placed. Baking cookies brings back all of the smells and tastes that I experienced in Grandma’s kitchen year after year. There’s no better feeling than sitting back and reliving memories of Christmases gone by. Why not give the gift of a memory this year?

Fisher Price’s Rock-a-Stack has been delighting babies since 1960! I can’t think of many people who didn’t have one of these in their toy box while they were growing up! The five colourful rings are the perfect toy for babies of all ages! The smallest ring has colourful, swirling beads inside, making it a perfect rattle for the tiniest of tots. When baby gets a little bigger, they can practice stacking the rings on the base. Elizabeth loves pushing the wobbly base once she’s placed all of the rings back on and watching it rock to and fro. The bright colours really catch baby’s attention! It is always one of the first toys that Elizabeth reaches for when she is playing.

Fisher Price’s Rock-a-Stack is a gift that you can feel great about giving because baby is learning as they play! Stacking is great for hand-eye-coordination. This toy brings back so many fond memories of my childhood! I can’t wait to bask in the glow of our tree, bite into a freshly baked ginger snap, and spend some quality time playing with my daughter. That’s really is what Christmas is all about!

  • I had the Fisher-Price Rock-a-Stack when I was little! I love that the new one has beads in the top ring – makes it just that little bit more fun for the little ones! I am pretty sure mine was just all plain rings, if I “remember” correctly (recalling photos I’ve seen of me with mine). I think many of my photos show me chewing the rings, and wearing them as bracelets – I think I loved this toy! 🙂

  • I had this. My kids plays for hours with it and I passed it along to my brother for his kids.

  • I remember having one of these when I was little and we lost one of the rings. I liked how it would still stack and leave the space empty where the ring was missing.

  • I had one growing up and my boys had one when they were smaller. Would love to gift it to a friend.

  • My son had this when he was young and them my granddaughter also had this when she was little….it is a classic!
