We are an active family. It’s a common statement but not one I would have used to describe our family even 5 years ago. A busy family, for sure. An on-the-go family, absolutely. But the shift to becoming an active family happened when our kids started to progress through primary school, started developing their own talents in sports activities and yes – mom and dad both realized it was time to pay better attention to their own health and fitness as well!
And so, it happened. Not quite overnight, we became an “active family”, always on the go from one activity to the next and – for me especially – always planning three steps ahead and determining who needs what when. Many days already this month we’re going from one activity right to the next, so that means we need extra clothing and more when we leave the house at 9am.
One item that can’t be overlooked in our sunny (and dry) Saskatchewan climate is sunscreen. Forget it for just one afternoon on the go and your skin will remind you that evening. We’ve been using new Banana Boat Simply Protect Kids Sunscreen Lotion for our active family including when our “middle child” (oh the middle child!) played two football games this past weekend and the family came along on the sidelines to watch. I ensured we were all sun-protected including Nevaeh (10) her younger sister Everleigh (7) and her older brother Elijah (14).
New Banana Boat® Simply Protect™ Kids Sunscreen Lotion is designed with a new, minimal-ingredient formula that’s mild and gentle enough for even the most delicate skin. Banana Boat® Simply Protect™ Kids is made without oxybenzone and parabens and contains no added oils or fragrances. The result? A gentle, tear-free formula that provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection with 25% fewer ingredients*.
The Banana Boat® Simply Protect™ product line is new this year from Banana Boat, giving families the choice of a Banana Boat sunscreen formula that best works for them. I like that it absorbs quickly and easily and especially that it’s tear-free for happy busy and sweaty little faces! It’s also water resistant for up to 80 minutes which means a longer sprinkler/pool/water-balloon playtime before mom needs to reapply.

I love that Banana Boat has 25% less ingredients in it! I hate reading the ingredients in things to find a massive list of chemicals! Less is more 🙂
Thank you for this post. My family and I are all fair-skinned so this pertains to us!
I like how it offers full spectrum protection. I am not a fan of sunscreen in general.. I have used banana boat spray on in past.. it was ok. I hope it’s not greasy
I am obsessed with using sunscreen. My hubby has four family members who were diagnosed with melanoma so I am super careful.
I always buy Banana Boat sunscreen! This is a bonus!
my hubby actually just went and bought this a few days ago as we ran out of the other sunscreen we were using on our girls
My daughter can not use this, she puts this on and gets any sun and she blows up like the Michelin man
I like to stock up on sunscreen every year.
It’s great to see that the one for kids is tear-free!! 😉
I like the fact that this product has fewer ingredients which might help minimize the risk of reactions.
I love Banana Boat sunscreens!
It’s the only sunscreen my son doesn’t object to!
It sure is super important to protect our skin! The sun it out!!!!
I do like a sunscreen that absorbs quickly so I will look for it in the store.
This would be good for our fam! We’re always outside, and have sensitive skin. Definitely need to look for this!
Thanks for the post!
I think it’s so important to wear sunscreen because when I was growing up we were never told to wear and I burned a lot when I was a kid.
My family has been using Banana boat products for years. Thanks for the review.
I have to say I still have concerns about this brand due to the reports of blistering and reactions.
Always have Banana Boat on hand!
The best sunscreen is the one you’ll actually use. Having a good formula is super important!
Tear Free — this is what is selling me on this product! With squirmy kids applying sunscreen to the face is always a hassle. Can’t wait to try it
It is always great to hear about a good sunscreen, can’t wait to give this one a try!
I love tear free products too. Great for the kiddos!
I love the Tear-free formula, my granddaughter seem to always rub her eyes after we apply sunscreen. Will let my daughter know.
i usually use another brand for myself but for some reason always chose Banana Boat for the littles!
so important to prevent sunburns!
Thanks for the reminder i am the only fair skinned one in my family. NEED sunscreen always
Great post. I always keep all my skin protected before I go in the sun… Wish I had done so when I was younger.
Thanks very much for this helpful information on the New Banana Boat Simply Protect Kids Sunscreen Lotion. We all need to use a good quality sunscreen for protection. I really like that this sunscreen absorbs easily, quickly, and that it’s tear-free.
Banana Boat has been a trusted brand in my family for years! Great quality sunscreen you know you can trust!
I like that this has fewer ingredients. I have sensitive skin and find that sometimes my sunscreen (often mixed with bug spray) gives me a rash.
Tear -Free formulas are important to me as my son is always rubbing his eyes!
I really like that it absorbs quickly and is tear free.
I always need to use sunscreen, especially if we go out boating on one of our wonderful Saskatchewan lakes. It’s easier to burn on the water!
So important to wear sunscreen. I really like it that Banana Boat has 25% less ingredients. Great post
This looks like a good one to try. I like the shorter list of ingredients.
Sunscreen is one of those products that always has so many crazy ingredients. As a mom I’m happy to see 25% fewer ingredients for my children’s sake. Way to go Banana Boat!
Have never tried Banana boat, perhaps I will now.
Banana Boat has always been our go to brand. We love it especially for our kids 🙂
