  • My Brownie group donated over 100 items to FeedNS and donated almost 300 books to the IWK children’s hospital last week 🙂 They also went carolling at a local nursing home.

  • This year we made up stockings for seniors that would otherwise not receive anything for Christmas.

  • We give back by donating or non perishable food items to our local food back. We also donate our outgrown winter jackets.

  • We heartily participate in a “12 days of giving” program via our kids’ school. Each day has a different request for brand new giftable items such as toys, arts & crafts, girl clothes, boy clothes, toiletries, blankets, coats, food, baby items etc. and we always send at least one, but usually an average of 2-3 items, per category. We know the list a few weeks in advance, so we can get things ahead of time, and then each day during the 12 day period we send the items to school so our kids can put them under the Christmas tree in the main foyer. Then at the end of the 12 days the school puts together hampers for needy families. It’s a really great program that does a lot for the community.

  • I participate in Santa for a Senior. It’s a program for seniors who are alone and wouldn’t receive any Christmas gifts without this program.

  • I give back in a few ways. I donate whatever toys my daughters no longer play with that are in good condition, we donate to tree of hope and if i win something i know will benefit someone elses family, kids etc…I send it to them

  • I participate in our community’s food drive and toy run. I also donate clothing and gifts to a local church who has a program for the homeless. I am a huge believer of de-cluttering and always take anything of value to the Salvation Army regularly who have a fabulous Christmas program made possible by the sales in their Thrift shops.

  • At work, we collect any donations towards “adopting” a family for the Holidays. It goes towards buying gifts for their kids and getting food to prepare a good Christmas dinner.

  • I just sang in a Christmas cantata concert with my two choirs. We raised $2000 for the palliative care suite at our local hospital.

  • I donate to Goodwill and I always drop my change in the Salvation army kettle and I donate more food to the food banks around this time of year!

  • One Christmas charity I have done for 5 years is the Salvation Army Adopt a Family charity in which I provide the presents, non perishable food and grocery gift cards for perishable food so that the low income families can have a great Christmas. I love knowing that I’ve given kids and parents a really great Christmas.
I also help my local Humane Society with gift baskets I’ve made so they can raise money at the silent auction they have each year.

  • I donate to the foodbank and Santa’s Anonymou. We also make sure to extend invitations to join our celebrations to any friends who may be alone during the holidays.

  • Our kids are given money to make a charitable donation to the cause of their choosing. We discuss various options with them and then give them the final say. My husband and I do the same with our own money.

  • I volunteer at the old folks home in my town & donate to a pet rescue & several other charities.

  • We pack food hampers with the Christmas Bureau and sponsor additional hampers of food for families that don’t have enough this season.

  • I give back to the The Shoebox Project-The Shoebox Project collects and distributes gifts in the form of Shoeboxes to women in shelters in Canada and the US. Among other charities during this time.

  • During the holidays I give back by volunteering and donating money, food and other items to charities.
