Valentine’s Day is a special day, starting from childhood when you bring your Valentines to school addressed to your best friends and secret crushes, then through the dating years (single on Valentines day, or in love, there’s a reason to celebrate for or against it) and of course when you’re married with kids and make it a family day celebrating everything that love means within your home.
Hallmark is the go-to destination for gift giving year round and Valentine’s Day won’t leave you empty handed for your loved one, with a quick visit in store. We received a lovely box packed full of Hallmark goodies for gift-giving this year and I picked a few favorites to highlight for you!
First, I packaged this up in a gift bag and tissue paper and gave it to my bestie this week. Perfect right? If you happen to have a loved one’s birthday coming up, this is a great idea to pick up now. They’re on sale right now for $9.95!
Then, I set to packaging up gifts for the kid’s teachers. With items like the these, it makes gift-giving so easy because everything is not only beautiful, on trend, but also useful!
Seen in the photo above:
Hallmark Tissue Paper (6 sheets): $1.99
Signature Marble Medium Bag: $7.99
Cork Coasters (Set of 4): $24.95
Valentine’s Card: price varies
Colour-Block Cork Journal (160 pages): $16.96
I especially love the Cork Coasters and matching Colour-Block Cork Journal and though I really really want to keep it, turning 40 recently brought with it a common gift of wine glasses and coasters (I love my friends so much!) so I am going to part with these two items and give them to a teacher this Valentine’s Day.
No one wants spilled wine (it’s a travesty!) nor do they want rings on the table (my pet-peeve) so I have a second set of the Cork Coasters from Hallmark Canada set aside for one of my readers to win! Use the form below to get in to win, and gather up the bonus entries – good luck!
We have not done anything for a few years on Valentine’s Day. We were just saying last night that, ‘maybe this year…’
I have no special memories of V-day. In school we used to watch a movie or play games
We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day.
My hubby and I don’t usually celebrate it as a ‘love’ holiday. It is a normal day for us and we usually just spend it doing what we love – in the hockey arena with our kids watching them play.
I remember Mom making a beautifully decorated heart-shaped box for the teachers each year and filling them with homemade Maple Fudge. I have a couple of the boxes and treasure them.
My husband usually works Valentines Day but we usually go out for a special dinner, get our daughter flowers and treats.

I love the homemade gifts the kids make.
We have always celebrated Valentine’s with a special dinner at home & a special dessert. We used to do this with the kids- tablecloth & good china and all but now it’s just the two of us.
My fave memory is exchanging Valentines Day cards as a kid! It’s sad that they don’t do it anymore. I remember it was one of my fave school days!
I love when my kids bring me a Valentine’s card from school!
My husband and I usually just go out to have dinner alone and the kids celebrate Valentine’s day at school.
I love when my little guy comes home with Valentine art from school. As a family, we go out for heart-shaped pizza on V-Day….. much different from before we had kids and more fun/casual.
Dinners and cards
Valentines is in the past for me and my hubby, we don’t bother to waste our money anymore, but it’s fun for all the couples out there that still celebrate it and fun for the kids to get involved at school!!

We love everything the young ones make in school. We also go out to eat, just hubby and I.
My hubby and I usually celebrate Valentine’s Day at home.
I liked getting Valentines ready for schoolmates as a child.

I love sending a valentine in my kids’ lunch bag as a surprise on valentines day – that’s what my mom did for me when I was a kid and it made me feel so special!
Valentine’s Day isn’t my favourite but I remember one Valentine’s Day in a nasty storm that my boyfriend drove from London to Chatham with a gourmet picnic lunch and a large teddy bear just to make me feel better after writing a hard exam. For some strange reason I married that guy.
We don’t do anything fancy for valentines day, but we do stick to the same routine each year. We usually make ravioli for dinner and then share a box or two of chocolates while we watch movies.

I always have a soft spot for when my kids come home with a baggie full of Valentines from their classmates.
I just love the excitement in the kids faces when they see the little chocolate heart we get them and all the little Valentines they get from their friends 🙂
The nicest thing as a kid was not to be singled out for a valentine but for everyone in the class to exchange with everyone — so that nobody was left out.
we don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day – I may treat my loved ones to some chocolates – I don’t expect anything in return – I miss the days of buying and giving out Valentines though – it was always a fun day !
I love sitting and writing valentines with my daugther.
I liked making the cards with my kids when they were little, now they don’t need my help 🙁

We normally go out for supper a few days early and my husband will buy me flowers.
I enjoyed it when the kids were younger. They don’t do it anymore. The hubby and I make an effort to spend time together.
We do cards, sometimes flowers and chocolate. This year, we’ll be going out for supper on Saturday since the kids have no activities for once.
I love Valentines Day, I’m a bit annoyed at singles who make a fuss about being alone or say it’s a fake card-shop holiday, it is a made ip holiday but it’s fun! I’m not a mother & I don’t get upset when my friends who are get gifts from their kids & spouses.
I hit submit before I finished! Last night my hubby & I went to a wine tasting at the iYellow wine club in Toronto, we had a blast!
