With the start of a new year comes change. Most everyone looks at the new year as a start date for something – maybe not necessarily a new years resolution but a date to make some positive changes in their life. While we can all do this anytime, this seems to be a very good start date for the majority.
For whatever reason, or better-stated a multitude of reasons, my start date for change was April 25th, 2016. I suppose the date isn’t as significant because after that point is when I made small changes in my life for a better me sitting here today.
I can’t say I’m a gym- fanatic (still haven’t joined one) or that my treadmill doesn’t collect dust when I ignore it like I have the full month of December, because I’ve learned that health and wellness is about more than posting a sweaty selfie on Instagram. It’s about treating your body well, listening to it, and making good food choices (well, most of the time…)
That’s why this video series from Life, by Okinawa caught my eye. In the video below, Daniel – a fashion blogger from Dusseldorf, Germany, who has a passion for fitness visits Okinawa and learns about an alternative fitness regime from a local resident. It’s an intimate and fun look at a different aspect of healthy living (and one I’d love to try someday!)
Should always be striving to be a better version of yourself! 🙂
This is very cool (especially since we have friends living in Okinawa) 🙂
Never heard of this before, would be neat to try 🙂
There are so many ways to work out other than going to the gym. Thank god because I hate the gym! lol!
I could totally use some more activity in my life… and meditation!
This is great fitness to do, and boy can you feel it too!!
I am always looking for fun exercise routines.
Agree..so looking forward to the new year and new opportunities 🙂
I have not heard of Life by Okinawa an alternative fitness regime. I think this would be very benificial.
I have a copy of the Okinawa Diet (which I need to re-read, actually). I think there’s a reason that particular island has more centenarians than anywhere else on earth.
I was actually very happy being just the way I was, but my doctor and my diabetes said no.
Looked like a wonderful experience with another culture. Food looked intriguing.
So agree that moving forward and doing what works for you is key!
This looks much better than an ordinary workout session, using not only your body but mind also. Love this!!
It is all about a healthy lifestyle and moderation.
Thanks,i am planning on making some changes in the new year.
I would love to try something like this as an alternative to the typical vacation!
Wow what an experience to have! So great to try new things 🙂
I had never heard of this alternate fitness regime but it looks so interesting.
Thansk for the idea!
This would be fun for my daughter and I to do together.
he sure looks focused
This looks really neat as i had not heard about it before now!
This sounds like an appealing form of exercise to me.
I always think of it as “the best time to have started was ages ago, the second best time is now” whether that’s Jan 1 or April 25 or a random Thursday in August.
I don’t think you have to join a gym to be healthy or fit.
I hadn’t heard about Okinawa until today. Great to hear about new fitness regime
I had never heard of this alternate fitness regime but I am always up to a new challenge. 🙂
Trying to do that myself, working toward a better, happier me!
I’ve been working in doing more yoga abd can’t believe how much better I feel when doing it. I’ve never heard of this but looks like fun to try
awesome , sounds like a great fitness Regime , i need to get into something, i need to eat healthier and exercise 🙂
I like this….very interesting concept.
Make a change if you feel the need.
Huge popcorn fan!
I work out as much as I can but maybe after my surgery I will be able to do much more.
I agree that a gym membership is not needed to get, or stay, healthy. Gyms are not for everyone, and fitness can be achieved in other ways through martial arts in the park, or hiking in the forest for example.
This fitness regime looks really interesting! Do you think you’ll try it out?
I think the key to fitness is finding what works for YOU.. everyone is different in what they enjoy and what will help them achieve their goals!
Looks good for inner and outer well being
Makes me want to start karate and visit Okinama
I’m not a “go to the gym” type of person either but I’ve made small changes & will continue to increase my goals over the next year to be a better me!
I have never heard of this before but would definitely be very cool to check out.
Sounds really interesting! Bookmarking this to come back to later! Thanks for the info!
Sharing with my husband who does karate that is a form that originated from Okinawa.
