Why Scrub Daddy Makes Me Smile

Scrub Daddy

Recently, after a too-long lunch date on a patio, my friend Lise and I toodled over to Bed Bath & Beyond to do what we do after too-long lunch dates on a patio – we inspect new and interesting items and Snapchat our way through them. On one such adventure, we discovered a display of Scrub Daddy products. Thinking the name was interesting, we giggled at what it could possibly do to help two housewives.

Imagine my surprise when, after lamenting about this on Facebook, several friends commented that actually, Scrub Daddy is a favorite product of theirs and we had no idea what we were talking about. So, a few weeks later when I received an email inviting me to try Scrub Daddy, I knew it was simply meant to be. I needed to see what this Scrub Daddy love was all about.

Founded in 2012, Scrub Daddy is an innovative scrubbing product available at several home product retail stores across Canada. Activated by water with multi-surface capabilities, this sponge is known as a cleaning staple for any area whether it’s stubborn grease stains in the garage or your fine china in your kitchen. Scrub Daddy is scratch free, chemical free, and laundry and dishwasher friendly.

ScrubDaddy_1Scrub Daddy 3-piece colours set in red, green and orange, lets you colour coordinate your cleaning throughout your entire home which this germo-phobe loves. I don’t use sponges often, but if I did it would likely be just one kept under my sink and that’s it. While a sponge could be used in the bathroom – what if it somehow made it’s way to my kitchen? How would I know (and…ew.) So, having different coloured sponges gives you the ability to colour code your cleaning.

scrub daddy uses

I use the green Scrub Daddy sponge in our kitchen, while the orange the reserved for bathroom sink and tub cleaning, for example. But why a Scrub Daddy sponge instead of a generic one?

Here’s 5 reasons why I’m loving Scrub Daddy (and yes, it makes me smile!)

  1. When dry, it’s hard and can be used for heavy-duty scrubbing like on a pair of running shoes or a spill in the garage. But when it’s warm or even hot, it becomes a pliable scrubber that can be used in a multiple of places in the house and yard.
  2. See those little jagged edges? They’re perfect for getting into tiny spots like the crevices in the microwave  or around the sink taps.
  3. Its size makes it easy to smash into cups and other items when handwashing dishes, unlike a regular sponge. Plus, the eyes and mouth of the happy face can give you additional grip if you’re using it wet ant it’s smooshy (totally a word.)
  4. It doesn’t stink. I equate sponges with smelly and Scrub Daddy doesn’t fit into that category. They have been lab tested not to hold odors for up to 2 months, so admittedly I’ve only had mine a few weeks against this claim, but so far, so good.
  5. It’s really true, you can exfoliate with it! Again, this is where those colour coded sponges come into play here if you’re going to use it on your feet or hands but I had to know, so I tested it.

There are a ton of great uses for Scrub Daddy, and Pinterest didn’t let me down when I looked! People have used it for everything from cleaning the inside of Kong dog toys to scrubbing veggies to cleaning those little nooks inside a muffin tin. I’m just getting started!

I admit it, Scrub Daddy is more than a name and has won me over. Now, the next time I’m walking through Bed Bath & Beyond, I’ll likely be looking for other Scrub Daddy products to add to my household (I just discovered they have a Screen Daddy for your smartphone!

Look for more information on Scrub Daddy here, and look for it at other stores as well including Home Outfitters, Home Depot, Staples and Walmart!
