Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful…but, Cute Boots!

Skechers Go Walk ChuggaI am one of those people that loathes winter. I don’t celebrate the first snowfall (rain/snow mix predicted for today, ugh!) and don’t enjoy much of anything outdoors in the winter months. Why do I live in Saskatchewan, that’s a question I ask myself every winter (I get the answer each summer, mind you.)

So, I celebrate the things I can about the crisp fall and bitter winter here in Saskatchewan. I love our fall colors, I like packing away shorts and tank tops in favor of bulky sweaters and leggings which are more forgiving of the holiday treats I adore, and – boots!

I spent winters in my twenties wearing running shoes or some other slip on fall shoe. At some point in the last few years, boots made a huge return (probably thanks to the switch from bootleg jeans to skinnies and leggings) and it’s suddenly become fashionable to wear boots – and lo and behold my feet are so much warmer!

I love my Skechers GoWalk shoes – they were the shoe I didn’t expect to love and yet have been packed on two trips to Orlando and will be coming with me to Las Vegas in January. Not quite a running shoe, but definitely not a flip flop – GOwalk shoes are crazy comfortable yet don’t make my feet look like I’m wearing cinder blocks (that’s how I feel when I wear running shoes!)

Skechers GOwalk ChuggaSo, imagine my glee when I discovered Skechers GOwalk Chugga Imprint slip on boots! Not only that, but they come in a variety of colors and fabric textures making them as personal as your distinct style.

The Skechers GOwalk Move – Chugga Imprint combines a suede upper with faux fur lining and a cushioned Resalyte midsole.

The upper is all suede so it’s recommended that you spray it with a waterproofing treatment before wearing in wet conditions (a can of protector is a good investment, mine can last a few years). If you, like me, still refuse to give up bare feet in the house and wear slippers indoors, you’ll be happy to know that Skechers GOwalk Chugga Imprint boots feature soft shearling faux-fur fabric shoe trim and lining for warm and cozy barefoot wear.

I suppose if bulky sweaters, skinny jeans and cute boots are a part of fall and winter I’ll somehow find the strength to endure it. But don’t expect me to be building a snowman in December. A girl has to draw a line somewhere.

You can find Skechers GOwalk Chugga Imprint boots (SRP: $95) wherever Skechers footwear is sold, or online at places like SoftMoc.com, Amazon.ca, ShoeMe.ca, and The Shopping Channel.

  • Well, I live in Victoria, so I really don’t experience winter like pretty much everywhere else in Canada, but I love the crisp air, the windstorms and stormwatching at the ocean front!

  • I MUST say I love the smell in the air when you go on a fall walk and crunch leaves with the kids… Just a great seasonal smell…

  • Cute boots, crunchy leaves, pumpkin spice, apple fitters., hot apple cider, my birthday, warm sweaters and adorable hats. Do I have to say more? I love autumn.

  • I love the Fall – brisk sunny days, with red-gold leaves, cool nights, with warm fires – it’s the best of both worlds!

  • I do love Fall. The smell of the woods always takes me back to childhood and going cranberry picking. Of course in the Yukon it was much, much earlier than in the deep south of BC 🙂

  • As someone who doesn’t like the heat I love the crisp fresh days of autumn and winter, wrapped in cozy clothes

  • fall is my favourite season – the colours are so beautiful; the temperatures are crisp and clean; being able to throw on a scarf, sweater, and boots make you feel warm and cozy; there are so many delicious fall foods to enjoy (apple cider, pumpkin, hot chocolate) – fall is definitely the best season!

  • I love the colors of the leaves changing in the fall and also I like to see all the new growth in the soring.

  • As long as it is sunny, not rainy or too cold, I dont mind winter. But then I live in Texas. But we are expecting a wetter colder winter here this year… I love the changing leaves, crisp temps, holiday
    s!

  • My cooking changes in the fall. I make more soups, stews and casseroles. I also bake more in the fall. All comfort foods.

  • My favourite thing about the fall season is the baking with apples and pumpkins in the fall. For winter (though I really don’t like this season) I like curling up inside with a warm blanket and trying different types of herbal teas.

  • The gorgeous coloring of Autumn. I admit it’s kind of melancholy but I really love the peacefulness of a quiet morning listening to the leaves fall off the trees.

  • I love the beautiful colors of fall, love going for nice cool walks love hoodies, and blizzardy winter nights curled up inside by the fireplace!

  • I love fall, the gorgeous colours, the leaves are changing and its stunning. Winter is nice at the start because the kids have such fun but by February I’m sick of it lol

  • I love being outside on a crisp fall day. Even on a warmer snowy day. The longer we play outside the better sleep my preschooler has 🙂

  • The only thing that I love about fall is the beautiful colours and winter brings Christmas and hot chocolate 🙂

  • Fall is beautiful with the colours changing, the air is crisp and fresh. While I don’t particularly care for the cold bitterness of winter myself, I am embracing the winter seasons by learning new things to do outside. A couple of years ago I started snowshoeing and I’m having a blast while keeping fit. This year I’m going to start cross country skiing. The best thing is to layer up, get warm sweaters, thermal underwear, lined pants, warm winter coats, gloves, scarves and get out there to have some fun! 🙂

  • In the Fall: the colours of the leaves. In the Winter: Hot chocolate while watching the snow fall, In the Spring: flowers sprouting and grass greening up and warm breezes that signal a return to Summer soon.

  • We all need to appreciate that everything/everyone needs a break at some point. Weather is even included this category ….

  • I have Raynaud’s, a circulation disorder, and I am cold even in the summer if a light breeze touches my skin. Winter is not my friend in that regard. I have learned to embrace winter and the crisp, clean air. I love seeing the joy in my daughter’s eyes when we go sledding, skating, make snow angels, have snowball fights, build snow forts, and build snow families. It makes it all worth it. Plus in winter weather you can indulge in chocolates and other goodies and hide your winter weight under cozy sweaters and cute boots!! 😉

  • I love the changes that each season brings, the beautiful colours in fall, everything snow covered in winter it really looks so pretty(just wish winter was a tad shorter), and all trees and plants blooming in the spring!

  • I’m not a big fan of winter but I do love the Fall, it’s when all the fairs start and apple season, I also love the cooler air too, changing of the leaves and my favourite is my daughters birthday which falls on Halloween!!

  • You just need to move to Vancouver, what we have barely counts as winter! 😉

I love all the tons of fun family activiies that pop up around Halloween and the holidays.

  • I can’t really help you. I’m not a lover of cold weather at all. In fact I’m going to Mexico this year to escape it!…..at least some of it!

  • I enjoy going for fall walks and enjoying the crisp weather and wonderful colours of the season. In winter sledding and skating are tons of fun

  • I do love the Fall, I was born in the Fall and Thanksgiving is my Thang. I can’t help you with Old Man Winter except to say crock pot dinners and Skechers GOWALK Chuggers!! 🙂

  • I love the colours of the leaves in the fall. We are always enthralled and amazed at the radiant shades of gold/red/orange..

  • I am not a fan of cold weather. One thing it is good for is it gets me in the mood to cook more to help warm up the house. It is also a good time to curl up in a blanket with a good book and a hot drink or else to catch up watching movies you have missed. It is also a good time to wear warm clothes and sweaters that you have packed away.

  • It’s all about color, the oranges, reds and yellows. It’s beautiful! You can spend time outside without being too hot. Winter is pretty too but is too long for my liking llol

  • I love being cozy warm inside the house when big snowflakes are falling. Fall/winter is also the return of comfort food!

  • Sorry, can’t do anything about the winter 🙂 but fall is actually my favorite season in Canada – it’s beautiful with all the colors and pretty clean. At least in the cities you don’t get stuck in the mud.

  • I hate winter… but at least you get to wear sweaters and it may hide the extra few pounds I have on. Lol

  • Fall is great! Changing colours, jumping in piles of leaves with my kids, pumpkin pie, nice Fall walks in the fresh air. There is so much to love about Fall.

  • I’m a summer girl but what I love is hybernating, watching good movies and series, drinking wine & hot chocolate.

  • I have fine curly hair and a strong dislike for sweating,so until I took up gardening every season that was NOT summer was my favorite! I love clothes and fall winter spring were about that very thing. Snuggly Sweaters! Cute warm boots!jeans! Coats of every length and color, jackets, pretty scarves! And my make up did not have a melt down nor get hair that brought queries of “did u cut your hair and get a PERM?” HA! Whats not to learn to love about it walking a few blocks and still looking fresh and free from perspiration ,even rosy cheeked…not flushed! win win I had a beloved pair of black calf high sketchers . so comfortable and warm and gorgeous! I lent them to my teenager lol the rest is history. I am very glad for changing seasons I have learned to appreciate summer too

  • I love to go skidooing in winter. I usually go with my sons. Hubby is not one for doing that, he only uses the sled to go from point a to point b. I like to ride around all night. Christmas eve we usually get a soft snow fallling and its pretty mild out. I love to go walking in the snow when its mild like that. The snow just sparkles like diamonds.

  • OMGosh I hate summer so much! I love autumn! The weather is crisp, and cool. The colours are beautiful! Most days are still nice but its cooler at night so I can actually sleep. I love wearing sweaters and hoodies and autumn also means hockey! Autumn and winter are also the time of comfort food…stews, soups, lots of root vegetables. Its my favourite time of the year!! PLUS Christmas is coming!

  • Fall is my favorite season. It’s beautiful when the leaves change color, and you can start wearing all of your comfy sweaters, hoodies, and stylish or comfy boots. Fall brings you Halloween which is fun, and Thanksgiving which is time for family and comfort food! Then comes Winter, and while it can be cold, and snow can be a pain, when you think about the fact that every piece of snow is an individual snowflake, it really is amazing. Then you have Christmas, which is more time with family and celebrating the holiday, and New Years, which is, yet another celebration!

  • I like the sound of crunching leaves in the fall and watching the snowflakes fall in the winter. So much to see, hear and do.

  • I dont really like seasons that aren’t summer either; I need convincing too! haha 🙂 I would have to say – I LOVE the colors of fall and activities like sledding in winter!

  • I love the crisp air of fall, the smell of it. I love walking in the woods with the dogs, dressed in cozy but not heavy clothes. As for winter sorry I am not a fan,. Martinis and someone else to do all the shovelling might help

  • I love the crisp morning air of fall. But I really hate the cold of winter. I just can’t stand shoveling snow. I freeze my butt off all winter long. I’m one of those people who prefers to be warm. Not hot. But warm.

  • Well, this might sound a bit odd, but you know what I like about fall and winter? I like that it is quiet. Where I live, it seems so noisy in summer – motorcycles zooming by at all hours, loud parties, kids yelling, etc. Don’t get me wrong – I totally am all for fun parties, and I totally get that kids need to run and play and yell and just be kids!!! I totally understand all that! It’s just that, as an introvert, it is really nice to have quiet. Ahhh. Quiet.

  • You know everyone says their favourite thing about fall is the leaves changing colour. And I guess my favourite thing about winter is that there isn’t road construction going on.

  • Although I hate shoveling snow there is just something about crisp air and a sunny day with glistening snow covering the ground that I prefer to any summer day where it’s hot and humid.

  • I am all for Team Summer but if I had to convince you I would tell you how breathtaking the fall foliage is and how the changing of the leaves creates a beautiful scenery. It is also a time to be thankful for family at Thanksgiving as we celebrate together and enjoy a delicious meal and and basically anything pumpkin flavored (LOL). It is a pretty season.

  • Fall is my favourite season. The humidity is gone, the bugs are leaving, the leaves are changing colour, it’s apple picking time, and the holiday season is starting. I love taking walks in the crisp air, enjoying the changing landscape. Take the family to a fall harvest festival; it’s so much fun.

  • Winter and autumn because of how the snow makes the world so much brighter and prettier, you get to ski/snow board, go ice skating, bake lots of goodies, have hot chocolate by toasty fireplace, the holidays! (Christmas, New Years, Halloween) and no pesky insects!

  • Fall have beautiful colours of leaves and winter has plenty of fun activities for the family like snowmobiling, sliding, skating and making snowmen.

  • In the summer everyone seems to be so busy..things to do places to go but in winter people seem to stay home more and thats the time for music and games,we love get-to-togethers during winter, most of our family living in the same community so we have some fun

  • I love the bush trail walks in the fall for the freshness of air and the nice leaves. In the winter, I love how much warmer it is in the bush trials.

  • I’m not a fan of the really hot, or really cold weather, but LOVE the spring and fall seasons. I love seeing the trees & flower blossoms in the spring and the crisp colours of the leaves in the fall and enjoy fresh cool breezes by the lake.

  • I wish I knew what to tell you …. but I hate winter too. So the best thing is when it ends ! Ok I do love warm comfy sweater

  • Spring is my favorite season. The temperature warms up, all the flowers and trees are blooming a, and everything looks new.

  • What I love about winter is our family snowmobile rides. We pack up some hot dogs and marshmallows, hot chocolate and bundle the kids up in the sleigh. When we find a good spot we make a fire and roast or hot dogs and toast our marshmallows and watch the kids waddle around in there layers and layers of clothing.

  • My favourite thing about the fall season is the colors and the crisp air. Getting ready for winter its time to clean up the yard and pick those apples off the trees.
My husband says its winter for him cause he likes it when its cold and he love to play in the snow.

  • I actually love fall and winter (well winter up until Christmas then not so much lol) I actually love the clothing I think it’s super cute

  • The best thing about Fall, for me, is the beautiful leaves changing colour and HALLOWEEN! I just love Halloween. The best thing about Winter to me is decorating for Christmas and enjoying Christmas when it happens. I also love watching the first snowfall. After Christmas, however, I want all snow to go away!

  • Well, summer truly is my favourite season but I do love the colours of the leaves in the fall, and the sunny fall days that are not too cold yet. And in winter if we get snow I do love to go out and play in it with my kids, go for a walk, and then come back in for hot cocoa and cuddles on the couch.

  • For me it’s the start of the hockey season (both my 4 year and 8 year old play) and I get to hang out with a great bunch of ladies a few times a week and have fabulous visits

  • I love the fall because it is a lot cooler than summer. I can’t stand the heat. I also like fall because it is the time of year that I harvest vegetables and fruits from my garden.

  • Fall is great when walking the trails around here as you can smell the scent of a wood burning stove in the crisp air! But it prepares us for the cold snowy weather!

  • I doubt I could convince you to like fall and winter, you seem like you have your mind set on that, but they are my favorite seasons. Fall is just so lovely with all the different colors of leaves and the smell in the air. Sometimes too much snow and cold weather annoys me, but I much prefer it to summer

  • That’s a hard one for me since I am all about summer…I do think the Fall and Winter can be beautiful to look at…Sorry, that’s all I got…lol…

  • I think you should like fall and winter because think of all the beautiful colours of the keaves, and you get to go sledding in thr winter

  • When it is winter and real cold, I feel as though I have a reason to stay home, wear fleece pyjamas, and eat junk food.

  • fall is great for the crisp air and leaves.
spring is fun for the new flowers blooming
    winter is misery personified.

  • I love sweaters and legging and a good boot. I love doing Halloween with the kids too and the smell in the air right before winter shows up!

  • Fall and winter are my older 2 daughters favourite seasons. They like that there are no bugs, they can wear their boots without their feet getting hot, they can wear scarves, there are leaves to crunch through and make piles with. they also like that they can see the moon (as in it’s out earlier in the day) and can watch the sunrise (without getting up too early).

  • Fall is actually my favorite season, I love the cooler weather, I hate being sticky in summer plus I love being able to start rocking my boots collection again! Plus HALLOWEEN!!

  • Hot, tummy-warming drinks.. filling comfort foods.. cozying up infront of a fire wrapped in a fluffy blanket!

  • Fall is my favourite time of the year, the colours, the harvest, pumpkin everything (lol) and HALLOWEEN (my fave holiday). Not to mention the cute sweaters, boots, jackets, etc…. 🙂

  • I love the way the crisp scents of fall assail the nostrils, the crunch of ochre and auburn leaves underfoot, and the the clumps of snow I can throw at my friends in giggling taunts in winter time! All the seasons are lovely!

  • I like having a reason to bake all fall and winter as it helps keep the house warm. Getting to cuddle and drink hot chocolate or chai tea every day is pretty excellent too.

  • I love winter because although it’s cold outside, you can cuddle up and stay warm while catching up on tv shows and movies that I missed during the summer months.

  • You don’t need convincing to like fall, do you? I mean there are gorgeous colours all around and it’s great going for a fall walk. Winter, well, that’s another story, but it’s always great to go for a winter walk and then come home, have some homemade soup and read by the fireplace (if you have one)!

  • My favourite things include having an excuse to buy new shoes or boots, and dreaming (maybe even taking) a trip to somewhere warmer to escape the snow.

  • The best thing about any season that isn’t summer and is a bit cool (OK, cold) is that there are NO mosquitoes!!

  • I love winter when i can wear super cute boots like these , i love new boots , so you have to love winter lol

  • My favourite thing about winter and fall is being able to dress in warm sweater and leggings and wearing my uggs! 😉

  • I can’t convince you as I share your feelings about winter! But the chance to take a sunny holiday in -20C temperatures makes me smile. Other than that, I pretty much hibernate….and wait for Spring.

    Cheers.

  • Fall and Winter have amazing scenery and holidays of course. Fall the leaves change and winter has snow but when you think about the beauty of snow and how one day everything stops because of the snow and warming up by the fire with hot coco. It’s beautiful.

  • Autumn brings with it the colours of the turning leaves and its own unique smells of harvest the Autumn festivals and the long country walks.Winter brings roaring fires wooly jumpers curling up on the sofa with a good book and a large mug of coffee. But also those superb crisp and sparkling days where the air is so pure it burns your lungs, when suncream and sunglasses are the order of the day and the family en masse goes out to play

  • Okay, so I’m with you, I’m totally a summer lover too but I focus on aspects of the season like christmas/thanksgiving where I can enjoy family time and the winter moment like going sledding or building a snowman or having a good ole fashioned snowball fight with my kids 🙂 Its the only way I make it through the seasons 😉

  • I need to convince both of us then, Tenille! What I try to embrace is the beautiful colours of the leaves changing. It’s interesting that something dying can look so beautiful. Long cool walks where I can war a bulky sweater & boots. I also enjoy the crisp air and the crunching of snow under my feet. Are you convinced yet??? me neither. Let’s try and look good until we get back to spring & summer.

  • Fall is a wonderful time of year, love wearing cozy sweaters, the crunching of leaves underfoot, the steamy hot good fall soups & stews…just a great time of year
