As much as Facebook statuses may have you believe, there are not a lot of perfect parents out there. Nope, many of us are just struggling to make it to Friday some weeks. Sometimes, we take shortcuts to help save our sanity. Often times we lay in bed at night wondering if we’re doing a good job (you are, honest!)
I know for sure that while my kids love a great salad, are unable to leave the table until all the protein on their plates is gone, and drink milk more often than I do – they still don’t get optimal nutrition every day. I look at nutrition weekly rather than daily (because otherwise I’d feel like I wasn’t measuring up every single day, who wants that?) Canada’s Food Guide always has great information on recommended servings and it’s a smart idea to have this information somewhere visible for everyone in the house to see.
Because I know my kids are not getting the recommended servings of everything in Canada’s Food Guide, even when I look at it from a weekly perspective, I ensure the whole family takes vitamins to fill in those nutritional gaps. I think it’s important to look at vitamins from that perspective, rather than “I can eat whatever I want because I take vitamins.” I also hope that by filling in those nutritional gaps, I can help ensure my kid’s immune systems are strong and hopefully that will aid in fighting off any colds or yucky viruses floating around.
When asked if I’d like to try Treehouse Kids Supplements with my kids, I was of course open to it. We have been using gummy-vitamins for the past while, so I wondered how mu kids would feel about switching to a chewable. It turns out, they didn’t mind it at all.
Treehouse Multivitamins, Vitamin C and Vitamin D (available in both Franklin and Max and Ruby characters and in gummy form) are all great supplements for our children’s diet and also taste great. Other products from Treehouse Kids Supplements include a Probiotic Powder. Learn more about Treehouse Kids Supplements here and look for them in stores everywhere now!
The kids in our family currently use the gummy vitamins. Not sure if we will switch, but could be a consideration. Great post!

In my opinion extra vitamin C and D is crucial for those of us in the northern hemisphere, I’ve also been told that B12 is a good idea for me. If in doubt have your levels checked through a blood test and then take only what is needed.

I have used these vitamins for a few years – the kids seem to really like them and never kick up a fuss about taking them!
I agree, using vitamins to fill in the gaps so to speak where your children are lacking while still trying your best to assure your kids eat healthy is a great way to go. Vitamins should never be a replacement for real food!
My 4 year old also takes gummy vitamins all the time too. He thinks they’re candy and I’m happy he’s getting extra nutrition. I’ve never heard of this brand but I’ll be on the lookout from now on.
