You may be surprised that one of the biggest issues facing couples in the bedroom isn’t what you think. Sleep Apnea causes people to stop breathing – repeatedly – through the night which then leaves them gasping for air. Can you imagine sleeping beside a loved one and having this happen night after night?
Another surprising statistic, up to 90% of Sleep Apnea sufferers go undiagnosed. Many people mistake Sleep Apnea for heavy snoring or other ailments and therefore don’t treat it. In fact, it’s actually the Sleep Apnea sufferer’s partner who pushes for the first step of diagnosis and eventual treatment (around 75% of people diagnosed with Sleep Apnea have been pushed to find a solution by their sleepless partner.). As they say, “He resists but she persists!” And for good reason, disrupted sleep for a couple leaves everyone tired and let’s face it – irritable!
Sleep issues can have some significant consequences on the patients’ lives, but they do not seem to rise to the level of being an urgent issue that must be addressed immediately. However, if you ask anyone who suffers from Sleep Apnea, or their loving partner, I’m sure they’d disagree on the importance of the issue. If you or someone you know is impacted, check out the Rana website. It’s packed full of information and resources and even a quiz to help determine if you or someone you love has Sleep Apnea.
Snoring keeps me up too sometimes, I didn’t realize it could be sleep apnea
Maybe I should get checked, no one likes when I sleep, apparently they tell me I can be heard outside, hmmm
I have 2 brothers with sleep apnea.
Something to definitely get checked out if you snore. I know a few people that have sleep apnea and have to use the CPAP machines at night.
When the lights go out is when my wheels start turning and I instantly think of 25 things that need to be discussed with my husband… Who is already snoring!
I think sleep apnea is WAY more common than people realize – very much something worth looking into if you have the symptoms!
very informative, thank you!
Thankfully I don’t think either of us suffer from Sleep Apnea
I personally know 2 people that have been diagnosed with sleep apnea but thankfully my Husband and I seem fine. I’ve heard that there’s quite extensive testing that goes on for this at our hospital. Great article to raise awareness!
My kids keep me up! Lol. As for sleep apnea, my husband and I are good. Great article.
My children and my stresses keep me up
My husband kept me up for years until we did something about it and now he uses a CPAP machine!
