Banana Boat SunComfort Sand Challenge

Banana Boat_SunComfort_logoEvery year in the midst of the January deep freeze in Saskatchewan I make a promise to myself. I promise that I will enjoy each and every day of our Saskatchewan summer, that I won’t complain about the 30+ degree heat, and that I’ll try to do more outdoors instead of spending days inside in my air conditioned house.

I have a girlfriend who – with her four kids – regularly drives out to a local beach to spend an afternoon at a moment’s notice. She doesn’t need to plan the trip for days and doesn’t seem to stress about the sand in her van, or the work left at home while she escapes on yet another adventure. I want to be more like her!

Banana Boat SunComfort Spray

So, when asked if I was interested in trying the Banana Boat SunComfort Sand Challenge this year, I said yes immediately! I’m getting prepared, people, and while I may not be able to drive out to the beach on a moment’s notice (and without stressing about it) I certainly can plan ahead to have the items necessary for a successful beach day.

Banana Boat recently launched SunComfort Sunscreen Spray – a sunscreen that lets you spray, play in the sand, and brush the sand off your skin with ease. Having tried a variety of sunscreens over the years, I’ve certainly learned that some are simply better than others.

While all sunscreens offer great sun protection, there are a variety of factors that make sunscreen use frustrating, and when using a product on the kids every day, it’s important that frustration not be a part of the process. A scent too strong, poor absorption, and greasy results are all frustrating features of sunscreen (I ruined a new shirt last summer from the sunscreen oil on my arms that didn’t absorb as quickly as I had hoped!)

Back to Banana Boat SunComfort. We were asked to take the SunComfort Sand Challenge – spraying Banana Boat SunComfort on our arms, waiting a sensible amount of time for the product to absorb (which – at the beach – always feels like forever for the kids) and then put our arms into sand. We then experimented to see how easily the sand brushed off.

Banana BoatAs expected (because otherwise why would they ask us to do the challenge had they not already known the fantastic result right?) the Banana Boat SunComfort Sunscreen made it easy peasy to brush off the sand with nothing left behind. We actually tested another brand on the opposite arm to see if we could see a noticeable difference but were surprised that the other brand performed just as well. That brand, however, was for adults and had little to no scent and was more focused on skin softening and wrinkle reduction – things kids are blessed not to have to worry about too much.

If you like an easy to apply sunscreen spray that smells amazing (I opted to pack it for our Florida vacation instead of the one for adults on that basis alone!), doesn’t leave your skin greasy, and also keeps the sand from sticking, Banana Boat SunComfort Sunscreen Spray is the way to go.

Look for it this spring and summer wherever sunscreens are sold.
