What’s In a Name

In late May, my boyfriend (now fiancé) surprised my 10-year-old son and I with a surprise trip to Disneyland. In a scramble to get everything packed in just one day, I put hair conditioner in a clear, travel sized bottle and some sunscreen in another. Fast forward to one of Disneyland in extreme heat of 30 degrees, plus humidity and not a breath of wind. I knew sunscreen that first day was a must. I pulled out the travel bottles and paused. I couldn’t tell the hair conditioner from the sunscreen; not even by scent. Of course I had bought some ‘natural’ sunscreen that didn’t smell like anything, and the hair conditioner too, was “natural” scent. I had my fiancé smell, and my son, and between the 3 of us, we could not decide which was which. So as a precautionary measure – I put on both, because at least ONE of those non-scented white lotions was sunscreen.

When we finally returned to Canada, I pulled out the original bottles and it turns out all 3 of us had been wrong in our guesses of the mystery bottles. How a simple label could have made all the difference. It makes us laugh to this day to think we lathered up in hair conditioner and walked around Disneyland.
