He’s on the move! My baby Johnny is crawling like crazy, and smack-dab in the middle of our bungalow is a giant staircase (gulp). I needed to find a baby gate that was super sturdy and safe. The Summer Infant Multi-Use Decorative Extra Tall Walk-Thru Gate is perfect in so many ways.
This award winning gate is made of metal, nothing flimsy about that. It is adjustable and easily accommodates most stairways and openings. It includes hardware for extra secure mounting, but you also have the option of simply ‘pressure mounting’ the gate. That’s what we did, and it hasn’t budged. We are confident knowing our baby is safe, and we didn’t have to drill and leave permanent marks on our walls.
The gate opens and closes easily, which is key because we also have a 5 year old who is up and down the stairs all day. The hinged swinging door is simple for him to get through, and an auto closing mechanism means I don’t have to worry about him ‘forgetting’ to close it. While safety is the ultimate factor in a baby gate, I do have to praise just how pretty this thing is. I love the fact this gate sitting in the centre of my home isn’t an eye sore. OMG!!! I love this gate, I have really bad steep stairs that go to my basement and everytime my granddaughter comes over we really have to keep an eye on her to make sure she stays away from the stairs, this gate would be heaven to own!!

One of my best girlfriends is having her first baby tomorrow after many losses.
They also recently bought their first house and could use a safety gate for the stairs.
I would like to win this because although we put gates at the top of both of our staircases, I didn’t think about the bottom. I spend half my day trying to get my baby away from going UP the stairs – she is constantly trying to go up from our main floor to the bedroom floor and it is worrisome because she can fall just as easily fall that way if she happens to get there without us noticing. Our main floor stairs would look best with a nice gate like this one, not the plain ones we got for the other levels!
I like the fact it is extra tall and that it fits wide spaces. Ideal for us.
