The Connections We Keep #HPLovesMoms

Thanks to HP Canada, one of my best friends Tara and I have been having fun finding ways to keep our connection strong despite the 400km distance between us!  The HP Pavilion x360 is the perfect notebook for both our families who are constantly on the go!  Why? WELL!  The HP Pavilion x360 gets it’s snazzy name because of it’s 360 degree hinge not only giving it the ability to completely rotate without the <<snap>> noise other notebooks would make in the hands of a 3 year old, it actually enables you to make your notebook a stand-alone screen for movie viewing, Skype, gaming and more.

HP Pavilion 360 review

The 11.6″ touch screen is smaller than I’m used to (yes, I love my super large screens!) but it makes up for it’s small size with it’s features and versatility so we’re still getting along. 😉

I’m used to the touchscreen technology on the HP Pavilion x360, so much so that I try swiping the screen on another laptop often and end up frustrated when it doesn’t work!  It’s a really great feature to have and now I feel any screen without touchscreen technology is lacking!  The Windows 8 operating system is another feature that takes some getting used to if you’re unfamiliar with it (Tara explained feeling like a baby giraffe on new legs!) but once you get the hang of it, combined with the touchscreen technology, you’re off and running with your baby giraffe friends.

Some fun things we’ve been doing using our HP Pavilion x360 include listening to music on the Songza App and rocking out with amazing sound thanks to Beats Audio and dual speakers optimized for use in any direction (making movie viewing while tenting the notebook easy!)

HP Pavilion x360We’ve also been taking advantage of the HD True Vision Webcam using Skype – my son and Tara’s son have been making these moms crack up listening to their Skype chatter, or lack thereof sometimes when we’re left shrugging and giggling with nothing left to say.  It’s a joy to see them embracing technology when they were once toddlers playing with wooden train tracks (or bonking each other on the head with them as the case may be).

It’s true that the HP Pavilion x360 has helped Tara and I (and our kids) stay connected!  We’ve also found some great ways to stay connected with family as well, thanks to the fabulous photo printing capabilities of the HP ENVY 5530 All-in-One!  Just this week, my son participated in his first track and field day and did exceptionally well coming home with a rainbow of ribbons including a 1st place finish in boy’s high-jump!  While I was able to excitedly text photos to his aunt on my phone, grandma does not have a computer and therefore doesn’t get those instant updates.  No problem, I thought, since I had some HP Advanced Photo Paper at home and knew I could quickly print off some photos from the day and pop them in the mail in the morning!

Printing photos, to-do lists, and realtor contracts are a part of my normal these days with a move in the works!  Yes, after 8 years apart we are moving back to Regina where Tara and her son live!  Through the years we’ve managed to stay in touch thanks to technology and it doesn’t feel like neither Tara and I, nor Isaiah and Elijah have missed a beat!  We’re so excited to get back to the Queen city and continue our story.

Look for the HP Pavilion x360 at HP online ($469.99) or at retailers like Best Buy or Future Shop (both $499.99).
