By Tara Richter…
I could hardly contain my excitement as I learned that I would be receiving a new HP Pavilion x360 courtesy of HP Canada and my most dear friend Tenille with Feisty Frugal and Fabulous. It was more than the feeling of incredible appreciation for a woman I admire so much – but also the relief I felt as I knew I’d be able to stay connected so much better with my family, my friends, and even to complete work for my side-business with greater portability and ease of use.
When I first opened the box and turned on the computer (while sitting on the couch I might add) – I was excited and curious to know what this computer could do. The next few hours, however, I felt a bit like a baby giraffe on new legs as I navigated around the system. Coming from using a desk-top Mac computer as well as an iPad, I was definitely in NEW territory. However once I wrapped my head around the touch screen, tiles, apps and overall functionality, it was like a light-bulb “Oh I get it!” moment that has really allowed me to make the best (and constant) use out of the HP.
This computer isn’t just about being able to use it whenever & wherever I please (which is absolutely fantastic I might add, after years of sitting ONLY at my desk).
The HP Pavilion x360 is a key to the connections and relationships I have with others. While physical distance can cause friendships to grow apart, technology has enabled me to maintain those relationships as though there was no distance at all. As a mother, I always feel that I have the support and encouragement from those dearest to me, RIGHT at my fingertips despite the physical distance that separates us. This is especially true with Tenille, who moved away nearly 8 years ago.
I was beyond tears when she left and worried that our strong connection, and bond of being new moms, would be lost. It is a beautiful thing, however, when technology can keep a friendship alive and vibrant through the years, not only for the two of us, but our once small babies who have now grown into boys, and who behave as though no time has passed at all each time we get together.
My younger brother and his wife just welcomed their first-born son into the world on May 3. I am beyond words at how much having the HP has meant to me this weekend, as it allowed me to stay connected to my brother, and “in the know” while his wife was in labour as he sent regular updates and even the first photos and video of my little nephew. The HP will be even more pivotal to me later this summer when my older brother and his wife welcome their first born, since they live 5 hours away. The computer (via email, Facebook, and now SKYPE) will allow me to be an involved auntie, even from a distance.
The HP Pavilion x360 isn’t just a computer to me, it is lifeline that allows me to maintain relationships and stay connected with those that I love.
I used Windows Movie Maker on my HP Pavilion x360 to create this video honoring the connections I have with the moms in my life!
Disclosure: HP products mentioned in this post were supplied by HP Canada.
Sounds like a great computer!
Luckly I live 2 min away from her.. so I see mom everyday 🙂
Was your goal to make me want one or to make me teary!
Thats so wonderful 🙂
I wish many of my friends and family lived closer as well.
Skype is the greatest thing ever for staying in touch! I’m lucky that my mom and I live in the same town but I do live far from my little nephew and love to visit with him on Skype. This laptop would be great for that!
sounds awesome I would like to get one!! loved your story 🙂
Love HP computers and this new laptop sounds awesome!
awe !!! love this! sounds amazing to have as well
Skype is brilliant for keeping in touch with my family members, I take my laptop with me when I travel so that I can always stay in touch!
Just lovely, and I agree, I moved 1600 miles form home 24 years ago, and now, thanks to my computer, I can talk to everyone whenever I want!
Aww, that is too sweet! Now, I want one of these, too, & I’m not even a mom.
This new HP laptop sounds amazing. A great way to keep in touch with family and friends. Lovely story.
Now a day keeping in touch is only a click away. How lovely that you can experience the occasion in real time.
This looks amazing… I need a new computer soon, and I will definitely consider this HP model!
Isn’t it awesome how technology works! It definitely helps keep friends and family in touch. Nice post.
I love HP everything , sounds like an awesome laptop , thanks for the sharing 🙂
My current laptop is an HP and I’m looking to upgrade soon. I would definitely consider this model!
Unfortunately my mom lives up north and does not have wifi so she can’t do any of this. Good thing she has decided to move closer to her kids and grand kids in a year
I can’t begin to express how this kind of technology has saved my heart. My mom just moved half way across the country with my sister and the rest of my family lives overseas.I can stay in touch with skype and although nothing beats a real hug,it’s the next best thing 🙂
loved the babies in the video so sweet
Sounds like a really good machine, I am in the market for a new one too.
It sounds like a great computer. I loved your video.
Great way to stay in touch.
You are so lucky. When my child was young I often felt isolated.
great way to keep in touch with loved ones
Love these ideas!!
Amazing features, what a powerful machine!! I would love to have one of these to keep in touch with my loved ones back home!!
I love how technology has the power to keep people close, even when distance keeps them apart.
It’s so amazing being able to share moments with loved ones online! Wishing all Moms a Happy Mother’s Day!
Can’t keep in touch with my mom (No computers in Heaven)
I love Skype but it uses so much data 🙁
crazy how quickly these devices change and advance!
I had an HP laptop for a number of years and found it to have many ‘fun’ features that were useful for many aspects of my life.
This looks like a great little laptop. I have a MONSTER of a laptop and it’s really just not easily portable. I also love my iPad, but it can’t do the things I need it to do.
Tablets are so use to use and versatile.
HP has never failed us. We have never tried their tablets though!
looks like a great product – would love one someday!
wonderful ideas!
tears 🙂
Wow, a “lifeline”? That’s such an intense way of thinking about it but it really is! And it’s great! It is so easy how we connect with others now
Sounds amazing!
I wish that I had used more technical stuff when I had Sara but there just wasn’t any…such a lovely video!
What a great use of technology. I like how technology doesn’t just make things easier for us, but it also brings those that we love closer together.
that’s a great way to stay connected with loved ones
Sounds like a great laptop! I love this story, very touching! Thanks!
Love how I can connect with others with ease.
Ugh my laptop sucks. On the hunt for a new one, will keep this one in mind. Love technology though! Keeps me in touch with friends and family overseas!
