I figured a recent trip to West Edmonton Mall – the largest mall in North America – was the perfect opportunity to try out my new Phil&Teds Smart Lux. The Smart Lux is a compact single stroller that takes up hardly any room in our hatch. It packs and travels as light as an umbrella stroller (26 lbs), but with the luxury Phil&Teds has become known for. The Smart Lux folds easily and the frame locks automatically.
We were putting in 6+ hour days in West Ed, and Johnny stayed comfortable and content. By the end of the day (feet throbbing) I actually looked down at him chilling in his Smart Lux, and felt jealous! Air filled tires and 4 wheel suspension provide as super smooth ride and it maneuvers like a dream. I didn’t feel like an elephant trudging into my favourite stores to browse. I could glide through shops confidently knowing I wasn’t going to bowl anything over. The Smart Lux turns tight corners (it’s a narrow 21.5 inches).
The Smart Lux has a convertible main seat and offers 21 riding options taking your baby from newborn to 4 years old (44lbs)! I currently have my seat rear-facing since Johnny is still just 6 months old. The security of being able to see me keeps him content. This summer I expect to turn him out to face the exciting world around him. My favourite feature of the Smart Lux: the main seat also has a lay-flat mode. This lay-flat option not only allows your baby to sleep comfortably, it also provides a clean and convenient place for diaper changes. Not once did I have to trek around a massive mall looking for a change table; I had one right in front of me. You can attach the Smart Lux Bassinet (sold separately) to create a bassinet style pram. Pick up a Smart Lux car seat adapter to turn it into a convenient travel system.
The sleek Smart Lux design is simple and classy. It has Phil&Teds good looks! No crazy prints, just simple black with an accent of your choice. I picked a neutral taupe colour for my seat (the colour seen above is ruby). It is plush and wipes clean easily. The canopy is large, and has an extension that zips open for additional UV protection. The parcel tray below the stroller can hold up to 11 lbs of baby gear (or mama’s shoppin). Foot brake is easily accessible.

I love how versatile it is, so that you only need 1 stroller throughout your entire child’s life! Plus the larger wheels! That is a huge deciding factor for me, cause they are so much easier to push through anything!

I would love to win this because it is so compact and light, yet fully functioning (more so than most strollers too!). Would be great for travel, and for trips to the mall (love that it is narrow and can turn sharply – some stores are just so hard to navigate with a regular stroller!). I am happy to see it can be used up to 44 lbs too – my baby is big for her age, and she will outgrow most compact strollers early, whereas this one she will be able to use for a long time. I love Phil & Ted, they are my favourite stroller brand.. and since I’ve had my daughter, my previous stroller is just not working for me. An umbrella stroller is too small, lacking in storage space, and uncovered… but I don’t need a giant one anymore either. I’d just like something small but not TOO small that will work for both kids (I usually wear my daughter, but she gets stroller privileges sometimes too.)

I would love to have this awesome stroller so that I can take my great nephew out for a walk when I look after him (2 to 3 days per week). I have a badly crippled hand and the stroller his parents have is far too heavy and clumsy for me to be able to use. I love how comfortable her little guy looks in the stroller. Many strollers won’t even work for young babies and you have to use carseat adapters so I love that this one does. We are expecting another baby later this year and another stroller would be a huge help since our youngest now is only a year and half old.
