Please Don’t Take Him Just Because You Can…

Blacklist Jolene

After the two months I spent watching five seasons of Breaking Bad in a binge-watch, I marvelled at what impressive television writing involves.  I understood why the show received such accolades and wanted more.  I’m a busy working mom and love being able to kick-back and lose myself in a show with plot twists and suspense.  What I don’t love is having that precious me time wasted by a show that doesn’t perform.  I’ve been burned before and I’m sure you have to. You’re two or three episodes into a season and realize you have no interest in watching the show and wonder if it’s time to bail or continue watching because you’ve invested yourself thus far.  Because of this, I’ll often wait for a few episodes of a new show to premiere and then wait for the buzz; wait to see what shows people are talking about and then catch up online so I can be part of the discussion and suspense myself (unlike Breaking Bad where, by the time I was ready to discuss there was no one left at the proverbial water cooler!)

Blacklist RedThe Blacklist is the Global TV show you need to start watching yesterday.  Former government agent Raymond Reddington (Red) played by James Spader who is not only cunning but haunting in his performance, has eluded capture for decades but turns himself in to the FBI with one condition.  He only wants to work with Elizabeth Keen, a young but talented rookie FBI profiler.  Red has The Blacklist, which is a list of the world’s most dangerous criminals and he’s willing to share the info one criminal at a time to take them down.

Blacklist

Of course viewers are presented with the obvious question – why is Red so interested in Liz?  What does he know about her past and what secrets from his is he still hiding?  Is he her father?  Just when we’re trying to wrap our brains around that mystery (while Red and Liz are taking down some pretty horrible people among us), we’re presented with one more.

Blacklist who is Tom

What’s the real story behind Liz’s husband, Tom?  We initially thought he was the supportive, sweet, fourth grade teacher.  Now, we’ve come to realize that he may have a much larger role to play in this story than we thought.  Jolene, substitute teacher who seems to have taken a very keen interest in Tom, is also becoming a bit of a problem in Liz’s life, even if Liz herself isn’t aware of it yet.  I can’t get the song “Jolene” out of my head when I think about this show (hence the title of this post…)

Without revealing too much, I’ll leave you with those character’s to mull around in your head.  For  now, you need to jump over to Global TV and catch up online as much as you can before Monday, March 17th when the next episode airs and everyone else is talking about the show!

If you’re already a fan….OMG!  I’m on pins and needles waiting to see the last discussion between Tom and Jolene continue.  Because, we know what Tom said at the end of episode 15We know what he said.

OK fans, I have a great giveaway to share with you while we devour episode 16 on Monday and beyond.  Take a look below and enter to win. If you’re not already a fan you can enter too – because after a few episodes I know you’re going to be knee deep in the plot like I am!  Enjoy…
