Gift Guide Gifts for the Home

Electrolux for (after!) the Holidays

electrolux ultracaptic

My sister has a saying that, “if it has a cord it’s not a gift for me, it’s for the house!” which I can agree with – to a certain extent.  Her theory went out the window though, when I gave her a stand-mixer recently.  She was thrilled and couldn’t wait to put it to use.  I think that statement of hers needs some clarification.  While some people may not feel a product for the house is a gift “for me”, many have their eye on household products this holiday season (and after the holidays, when looking for sales in the new year as well).

In that spirit, here are two amazing products from Eletrolux that may take up a bit of room under your tree this Christmas, but will be far more useful than a robe and slippers throughout 2014.

Electrolux Ultracaptic
When only the best will do, the all-new Electrolux Ultracaptic™ vacuum is the unit of choice. New to Canada, this high-performing bagless canister vacuum makes cleaning easier – and tidier – with the new Compact & Go dirt disposal system. With 12 amps of suction power, a 10-foot reach, and rubber wheels for better maneuverability, Ultracaptic™ is the vacuum unit of choice for the most discerning shoppers in home care tools this holiday. Currently the Ultracaptic™ is only available through local Independent Dealers. MSRP $599.00

electrolux Ultracaptic reviewI was recently sent this futuristic looking vacuum cleaner and loved the look of it upon site. I’d compare it to R2D2 but would probably get in trouble with my sci-fi friends for that. But look what I did there. 😉

Features that really stood out on the Ultracaptic include:

1. Two Power Nozzles – One is for carpeted flooring and the other is for hardwood floors.  Of course, you can also use the on/off button for the brushroll and keep the carpet-flooring nozzle on at all times but if you’re in a household with all hard flooring, the second nozzle option makes sense.

2. Adjustable Power Levels – Why would you need adjustable power levels?  Have you ever tried vacuuming your drapery or getting the dust off of lamp shades, plants, and other delicate objects?  Yep, that’s why!  This is a great feature for all-around house cleaning and makes the Ultracaptic much more than just a floor cleaning tool.

3. Rubber Wheels – I noticed the wheels immediately because, well, they weren’t the usual shiny black plastic ones on other vaccum cleaners.  These wheels make it easy to pull around and it corners well (yes, I said it, a vacuum cleaner that takes corners well, sometimes even at high speed if I’m really busy!)

4. HEPA Filter – Many vacuum cleaners will offer this as an option now, which is great.  Of course, having one that is easily removable and washable is helpful and this one is.  I need a HEPA filter in my vacuum cleaners and fans in our household due to allergies and asthma so this just endeared the Ultracaptic to me more.

5. Dust Compression – While the HEPA filter ensures no yucky dust enters the air we’re breathing as I clean, the Dust Compression feature is quite amazing because it actually gives me more time to clean between emptying the bagless dust compartment.  There’s a Max Level indicator to let you know that it’s time to compact the dust and show it who’s boss.

The Ultracaptic is brand speakin’ new to Canada and clearly sucks. 😉  But in a 0h-my-gosh-this-vacuum-is-amazing kind of way.  Look for it wherever at an independent Electrolux retailer near you!
