Closet Help From Rubbermaid

rubbermaid closet organizerThe Closet Helper from Rubbermaid promises to give you “your closet, only better” in a box. When given the chance to test this out, it was my husband’s closet that was destined for the overhaul! We’re fortunate in that we have not one but two closets in our master bedroom (the large walk-in closet being mine, of course!)

From HomeDepot.ca:

Closet Helper Max Add-on™ Organizer.. With Max Add-on, installation is easy because it attaches to your existing shelf without using tools or tearing out what you have. Each unit contains 8 ft of shelving and a telescoping hang rod that creates double hang for shirts, skirts, or pants.

Add shelving and hang space
No tools required for installation or assembly
Telescoping rod extends between 24” and 48” wide to fit your space
Works with existing wood or wire shelves
Includes 4 fabric cubbies for extra organization
Includes (8) 12” Shelves

The first step, of course, is to empty out the closet which is also an excellent time to get rid of some t-shirts that have been hanging in the back, and forgotten presents hidden from the kids (whoops!)

Installing the rest of the hardware was easy, because it really does just attach to your existing bar.  My  husband decided to move the shelving up higher since the closet was emptied out – which ended up giving him more room for two bars.  The finished result was awesome, tons of space for hanging shirts, but also tons of space for folded items (he only had the top shelf for that before) AND those baskets are awesome for hiding things from the kids – just sayin’.

  • I have seen a few reviews of this system and I am really thinking this is something I should invest in! I constantly am saying I don’t have enough room in my closets/drawers for my clothing..

    At $100, it’s a little bit of a splurge – so I think I will wait for a sale!

  • Going to have t pick some of these up when I am setting up my new place. Far easier to do it before everything is moved into it lol.
