Get a Head Start on Summer Skin

Get a Head Start on Summer SkinSpring is here, moms! I love the feel of the sun on my skin, though I know I’m not the only one that wishes the extra pounds gained over the winter months would melt away as quickly as the snow did. Spring is spent preparing for summer – we prepare our yards, our garages and our basements. We put away the kid’s winter coats and pull out the rain boots and hats. While we’re busy preparing our surroundings for summer, we often forget about ourselves.

Bathing suit season is just around the corner – and while most of us don’t exactly enjoy putting on a swimsuit – our kids relish time in the water with us. Swimming is great for your heart and does wonders for stress relief. The stress, I think, comes from getting ready to put on the swimsuit! Get a head-start preparing your skin for the summer months. You’ll have plenty of time to get some colour, but try and give your skin the moisture it’s been lacking all winter.

I’m a beauty product junkie and while many body washes smell divine, they also contain harsh ingredients that actually dry out my skin instead of moisturising it. One of my favourite products to nourish skin is Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash. I’m a busy mom and using a product in the shower that smells great, rinses off quickly and leaves my skin feeling like it’s been pampered in five minutes – that’s the only solace I get – is a huge win for me.

So, while I occasionally use a body wash that smells seasonal, when I have to get serious about my skin (and remind myself that pool season is just a few months away), I use my go-to Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash. You know those rough patches of skin on your arms that appear out of nowhere (I get them on my shoulders)? It takes care of those.

If the thought of putting on a swimsuit has you as nervous as me, take the first step and get your skin prepped. We have all summer to eat salads and sip lemon water; for now do something simple to prepare your skin for swimsuit fabulousness.

Introducing a new, breakthrough body wash from Dove. New, improved Dove® Deep Moisture combines a blend of our mildest cleansers ever and NutriumMoisture®, our rich blend of nutrients naturally found in your skin which effectively nourishes deep down. This is our PROVEN best care. Head to our Facebook page today for a $2-off coupon & tell us why you want to make the switch?

  • I’m heading back to NJ for the first time in four years and will be heading to the beach. Montana isn’t really a bathing suit state – so I know that anxiety again! Thanks for the tip about Dove!

  • Sounds like we have the same skin type, doesnt matter how much cream or lotion I use my hands seem to get dryer.. I have given up worrying about how I look in a bathing suit, the hubby is happy, so am I…

  • I’m just taking baby steps to swim suit weather for 2016 lol . I have a spot on face sun damage , and I’m a person that is pale summer and winter so everyone please protect ur skin.

  • I believe t is always best to protect your skin from sun damage. That is why I always use sunscreen when I am outdoors.

  • I’m a redhead, and my son was blessed/cursed with ginger hair too… and that means ginger skin. We’re both pale as ghosts, I’m covered in freckles- his haven’t shown up yet, but will any time now- and we burn when we walk under a lamp. We both slather on the sunscreen and don’t leave the house without hats all summer long… much to the amusement of my husband, he of the dark hair and olive skin. So unfair.

  • My heart plummeted into my stomach when I thought about bathing suit season! I have very pale skin and burn very easily so I am very careful for myself and my kids about going outside in the summer. I do make sure that I exfoliate with a nice body scrub and I use Dove Body Wash to get my skin ready to absorb all the sunscreen!

  • I shake my head at all the times when i was in my teens thinking that “i needed a tan”. i’ve always been extremely pale-skinned, and I’m ok with it now. it has it’s own beauty! time to start moisturizing to erase all of those months of dry, flaky skin!

  • I hate lathering on the lotion! I know I need to though with the furnance running 24/7 through the winter! Maybe a shower body wash with lotion will save a step!

  • I am currently using the Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash and it is my favourite body wash, I love the smell and it works great

  • I love dove products especially the dove deep moisturizing body wash. But stepping out of the shower I apply body cream or pure coconut oil and then before I head out I put on my sunscreen. Dry skin doesn’t hold a chance

  • Thanks for the heads up. We tend to forget to prep for the summer. Good thing our bathroom is stocked with moisturizing bathwashes, shampoo and conditioners already.

  • Bathing suit season is easier when you have the feeling of healthy nourished skin. It makes a ‘chore’ for some to be a little easier. I loved your comment on how much the kids enjoy us being with them in the water. That is the reason for bathing suit season (for us moms anyways)

  • My skin is so super dry after this winter. I was pregnant and I think the baby sucked all the moisture out of me! I can’t use harsh smelly washes either so this product looks good.

  • I should buy stock in sunscreen the way I’ve been making sure to cover myself everyday. I drink a lot of water, too.

  • Thought of getting in a swim suit is frightening to me! Yikes your articles reminds that I better get outside and get excercise especially after hibernating all winter!

  • For me this year will be lots of sunscreen and moisturizing for the summer =) Hopefully this will prevent the dryness =)

  • I get dry patches of skin on different spots of my body and this sounds like it would help nicely!

  • I agree that eating right and drink lots of lemon water is vital for your skin. Nourishing from the inside out has more lasting effect. Using a quality moisturizer is important too.

  • I am terrified of even the thought of putting on a swimsuit! I had used Dove® Deep Moisture in the past, & didn’t notice a difference until I stopped using it! I couldn’t believe how dry my skin had been before. I quickly switched back to Dove® Deep Moisture !

  • us mommas always forget to take care of ourselves because we are thinking about the others so therefore we need to pamper ourselves and dove is one of the best products for that!

  • Our family is full of fair skinned Red heads! Summer is a time we have to be really careful with the sun. Sunscreen is IMPORTANT

  • Great pic! I LOVE Dove! We use Dove shampoo and soap around here all the time! I am definitely getting that coupon on FB – thanks!

  • I think exfoliating and a moisturizing body wash like Dove are very important! Thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely try it!

  • Dreading swimsuit season!!!! This is a fun picture! We are Spring cleaning out our bathroom this week so that we can test our sunscreens, ect. and see what we need for the summer! 🙂

  • This year’s resolution was to be better to my skin. I’ve already been putting on sunscreen (I’m really fair) and moisturizing is next on the list. I am very familiar with Dove products and will definitely try their Deep Moisture. Thanks for reminding me and shring the $2 off coupon.

  • This is the perfect time of year to start getting our bodies ready for summer. Thanks for the reminder 🙂 Oh and thanks for the coupon as well!

  • I love Dove Body Wash. Sara has been using Dove since she was born and I have been using it since before that! We use the Sensitive Bar Soap and Body Wash. No allergic reactions or discomfort from using Dove. Great idea about getting our skin ready for summer and not to worry about the horrors of swimsuits quite yet!!

  • What a great photo! There is something to be said about moisturizing daily!

I tend to be REALLY good about moisturizing my face and legs, but slack off on the rest of me… and pay the price.. I have never looked into a body wash that moisturizes, but perhaps lazy me needs to 🙂

  • WE live in swim suits during the summer. I am good about lotioning up the kiddos, but neglect myself. I need to take the time to make my skin ready for summer too!

  • I have recently tried the lush bath bombs and am loving the softness of my skin following. I also follow that with the scentsy body wash and body butter and my skin is loving it!

  • I’ll be pregnant this summer – it’ll be the first time I wil be proud and actually showing off my extra ‘baby fat’!

  • I have used the Dove Cucumber and Melon wash and also the Pomegranate. My son loves using the Dove For Men line. At Bath and Bodyworks recently, I bought the Berry Flirt Signature Line of spray, lotion, gel, lipgloss, etc. The body washes that I buy must be of a thicker base . The lotions that I buy however , must be of a creamy base and not watery. I would also love to try a fruit smoothie facial this summer.

  • My skin gets dry in the summer because I like to sit in the sun…maybe switching from my soap to Dove might help.

  • I try to make sure to wear a moisturizer with sunscreen in it every day on my face, and I slather on the sunscreen right away once the coat comes off! I get very freckly and burn easily, so I have learned my lesson. I’d rather be pale and protected!

  • It is interesting that you mention some products actually drying out skin rather than moisturizing it the way it says. I will try the dove body wash for sure.

  • my skin is always so dry from winter so exfoliating and tons of lotion so I can be ready for shorts or swim suits

  • We are so looking forward to summer, though I’m not looking forward to shopping for a new swimsuit. I’ve used Dove before and I like how it makes my skin feel.

  • That’s a cute photo! 🙂 I’ve been good about applying body lotion recently, but having a moisturizing body wash would be awesome as well!

  • ah i’m so lazy when it comes to looking after my skin. i swim a lot in the summer so i think i better start now before it’s too late.

  • I really should take better care of my skin, because I wanna look your for as long as possible…lol

  • we/ my family and i are going to use more sunscreen, (expectually DOVE) as its my favorite!!!! need to take better care of your skin for the long term 🙂

  • sounds great! i have sensitive skin so ive been avoiding using any type of body wash ill have to give dove a try

  • Really hoping I win the Baby Cargo!! As for skin care, I moisturize everyday and I do use spf 15 on my face.

  • Definitely going to load on the sunscreen this year. Looking forward to getting outside, but not so much to the sun itself. I have fair skin and burn extremely easily. Luckily our daughter is not as fair, but still will have lots of sunscreen just in case 🙂

  • This body wash sounds really nice. I’m also loving Dove’s new Beauty Sketches video. I think it’s so great that they are on a mission to help women feel more confident and beautiful with their bodies! Also loving that $2 off coupon 🙂

  • I always start to slather on the sunscreen at this time of the year. The Dove moisturizer looks awesome – thanks for the coupon lead.

  • I have two very fair/blonde kids and feel like we use sunscreen year round! They get dry skin and eczema every season change!

  • Due in August with baby number 5, I think I am setting up the birth pool in June and we will be spending a lot of time in it 🙂 With a bunch of blue eyed fair skinned little ones we are always slathering on sunscreen.
