8 year old: “So can we eat it?”
Me: “Well, no. I mean, it’s non-toxic so I suppose if you wanted to you could. But don’t.”
8 year old: “But if I wanted to, I could eat it right?”
Me: “….(sigh)…Yes.”
And so it goes…
Play Doh is always fun, and even more so when you can whip up your own in less than five minutes. Today, we got creative with Blue Ice and Strawberry Kiwi Kool Aid flavors. They smell delicious, but no – they’re not for eating despite but my 8 year old thinks.
Kool Aid Play Doh
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 packages of Kool-Aid
1 1/2 cups hot water
Stir first 3 ingredients with a fork, adding 1 cup water at first and the additional 1/2 cup as needed. Knead with hands until Play-Doh consistency.
You can use 1 package of Kool-Aid but I find that two gives you a darker color and more yummy scent!
Yumm! Wish I had a kid to make this for – lol. I would feel a bit silly making it for myself. The Blue Ice Kool-Aid was always my favourite flavour!
It sounds kind of weird to eat the Kool Aid Play Doh, lol.
But I suppose given that there’s flour, salt, Kool-Aid, and water, a few (?) more ingredients and it becomes cake batter or similar. Well, add a few more ingredients and, lol, reduce the salt content.
Who knew it was so easy to make! Thanks for sharing.
Does the colour of the Kool-Aid get passed onto hands and tables??
Not that we ever noticed, and we used white placemats this last time with no residue left. 🙂
Perfect, I’m trying it out!! Thanks for the recipe!
You can also add extracts like peppermint to it for stronger smelling playdoh!!!
Yum, love peppermint!
Used to make play dough that was cooked and included cream of tarter, wonder where it is. Was a very smooth dough and lasted longer.

It was a toss up….should I pin it under DIY or Food & Drink?
so cool!
