Workout (and lounge, let’s be honest here) Clothes That Don’t Cost a Fortune

active-by-old-navy

I joke to people that my daily clothing at home consists of work-out gear, yet I don’t go to the gym or even work out at home for the most part.  It’s my “mommy-uniform” and I love it.  Gone are the days when at-home gear meant baggy sweats and a boxy fitting t-shirt.  Now, super-stylish yoga and running gear keeps moms like me looking good at home in clothing that’s functional and fashionable.  And for the rest of us who actually do work out and use it for that, it works for that purpose too!

Isn’t that funny?  Here I am writing about Old Navy Active clothing and it’s not in reference to the gym.  But ask any mom what her day at home, gymnastics, dance class, or the pool is like and she’ll tell you that taking care of her kids is much like a work-out.  Heck, sometimes we have little pint sized drill sergeants yelling at us the whole day too!

Here are my favorite pieces from the Active line of clothing currently available at Old Navy in stores and online.

Old Navy Active Favorites

The prices listed above are the regular prices too!  Many pieces are on sale this week which is awesome – and Old Navy offers free shipping in Canada on all orders over $50 too!

Yoga Stretch Pants are available in both regular and tall lengths and fit your regular size at Old Navy (more about sizing later).  They wash well and are perfect for the park (or the gym, if you’re so inclined!).  Thumb-holes in the sleeve can be used or rolled up since the sleeve is a nice long length as well.

Active Stretch Pullovers are awesome, awesome, awesome.  I love the way they fit – long enough to cover your tummy and bum, and loose enough so that it doesn’t cling when you’re wearing tighter fitting yoga pants.

The Striped Bubble Tank is available in four colors and when you purchase it in one, you’ll want it in all the others!  It looks a lot like similar Bubble Tanks found in stores for at least 5x the price and fits like a dream.  I love how it flows around the mid-section hiding little jiggly bits.

Old Navy’s Active GoDRY Tee and GoDRY Tank both have a perfect fit and the moisture-wicking jersey material is great for keeping cool when on the run.

And finally, Old Navy’s Compression Capris (19″), are among several Compression products in the Active line.  The product description states that compression fabric is for peak active performance and, yes, compression!  If you’ve ever wanted to tuck everything in, this is the fabric you’re looking for!  For me, and what I wear Active clothing for, Compression isn’t a favorite but I can see why many people love it.  I’d suggest if choosing Compression fabric from Old Navy that you try-on in store.  I found that I had to go one size up in the Compression fabric whereas everything else at Old Navy is consistent for size.  Again, that’s a personal preference (I didn’t like the super-tight-tucked-in feeling).

If you’re looking for new workout, yoga, or simply everyday wear clothing in 2013, check out the Active line from Old Navy.  For the same price you’d spend on a pair of yoga pants from a specialty store, you could get 5 or 6 items at Old Navy.
