Fabulous Frugal Finds

Mario Birthday Party Ideas

My son’s 8th birthday is this month, and our theme this year is going to be Mario!  I got his party invitations and supplies from Discount Party Supplies earlier this year, and have been searching online for some other themed ideas.  Wow, there are a lot of creative and talented parents out there – more talented than me for sure!  Check out these great ideas (click on the photos themselves for links to the source!)

Of all the above, I think I could handle these Mushroom Cupcakes!  Maybe.

Activities (source):

Mustache Yourself – When all of your guests arrive, make sure they each get either a red Mario hat or a green Luigi hat. Make these using a baseball cap and then glue a white circle on the front. If you’re doing additional activities with teams, this is an easy way to divide the group. Also give each child a Mario mustache. Now they’re ready to go!

Yoshi Egg Hunt – Add chocolate gold coins into colorful plastic eggs and hide them around the house. All kids love a fun egg hunt, and Mario was always looking for gold coins! Add a larger egg filled with more coins to be the ultimate find.

Boo! Bean Bag Toss – Cut out a white poster in the shape of a circle with a smaller hole in the middle (for the mouth). Then paint the circle to look like the Boo! Ghost from the Mario game. Kids can then toss red and green bean bags into the mouth to try to get the ghost!

Turtle Shell Relay – Line the kids up into two teams and have a pile of gold coins at the end of the room. The kids have to “turtle walk” (with hands and feet on ground and knees/chest in air) to the coins, grab on and turtle walk back to their team basket.
