My Fabulous Life

Bonk.

I’ve been somewhat scarce this week as our youngest (11 months) woke up in the night on Wednesday with croup!  First time I’ve ever experienced that with 3 kids and it was scary!  Thursday night was spent in the ER getting a breathing treatment and x-rays for her to rule out pneumonia.

She is finally on the mend and had a good night last night – despite this minor injury before bed.

I was taking a video to capture how raspy her little voice is and well…watch til the end.

Do you think if I walked into a store and asked for bumpers for my headboard they’d look at me funny??

  • Hi: glad she is on the mend. My ygst had croup a lot. She has finally outgrown it. Thank goodness. Hated hearing that awful barking cough.

  • That must be super scary! We’ve had lots of pneumonia over the years but (knock on wood) no croup so far. Glad she’s on the mend…you must be relieved.

  • My oldest used to get it a lot at Everleigh’s age. You know what was helping him a lot was fresh cold air. If he was really bad I was taking him outside all wrap up in a blanket and usually after half an hour he was breathing a lot better. Than I was opening his bedroom window a little bit and he was having a good night sleep. Of course I was wrapping him in a thick blanket in his bed. Croup is never fun. Hope she feels better.

  • My oldest Mica had croup. Not fun at all. I remember sitting in the bathroom with him and telling my husband to take a steaming hot shower, so Mica could breathe in the steam. He still coughed and sounded horrible!

    I’m glad she’s getting better!!! That’s great!

  • My daughter got croup lots when she was little. Mt Dr. told me the best thing is to take her outside when it’s cold out. There was many a nights that I spent with her bundled up but with her face breathing the cold air on the front step. I will be honest it worked the best. My Dr told us that the cold opens her airways and let me tell you she would recover from it quick. I remember her barking like a seal that’s how bad her croup was.
